Boss, Your Ex-Wife is Unreachable Now! novel Chapter 354

She knew exactly what he meant. They both retained memories of their previous lives. Brainstorming together would yield a far more comprehensive and detail-oriented analysis than trying to piece it together alone.

After a moment of serious consideration, Willow finally spilled everything, explaining the true reason Beasley had targeted her in the past.

"Do you see what kind of man he is now?" she asked with a bitter smile. "You're a rational person. You weigh the consequences. Beasley doesn't operate like that. What seems like a massive deal to us is nothing but a trivial detail to him. Even taking a life wouldn't make him bat an eye."

Just then, they hit a red light, stalling in a line of congested traffic.

Waller hit the brakes and turned to her, his gaze piercing. "Your entire suspicion against Beasley hinges on what those three foreign kidnappers let slip while chatting. But did you ever consider that they might have been lying?"

"They were speaking in their native language," Willow argued. "It sounded completely natural. They were practically buzzing when they talked about splitting the payout."

Waller didn't confirm or deny her point. Instead, he asked, "Is it a secret that you graduated from Kingston University?"

Willow shook her head. "No."

But as soon as the word left her mouth, a sudden realization hit her. Her eyes widened in disbelief.

"Are you suggesting Rosamund Worthington is a suspect too?"

Waller gave a firm nod. "Exactly."

Willow forced down her shock and shifted into an analytical mindset. "I actually considered the possibility that Rosamund knew Beasley was planning something against me, but I didn't think she was directly involved. He always sheltered her, terrified that people would label her a homewrecker. I figured he'd never let her get her hands dirty."

Waller pressed his lips together. He hadn't wanted to believe it himself, but it was clear as day.

The person Beasley actually cared about was Willow.

At least, he did in this lifetime.

"In any crime, the person who stands to gain the most is usually the one pulling the strings," Waller pointed out. "If something happens to you, is Beasley really the one who benefits the most?"

Willow nodded. "You're right. I shouldn't overlook a single suspect."

Even if that person was just an accomplice, she wouldn't let them off the hook!

"We can ask Ryan for help," Waller offered.

When it came to investigating backgrounds, an actual cop was obviously their fastest route.

Willow had been thinking the exact same thing. "Okay, I'll find some time to talk to him today."

Right now, though, she needed to get back to the hospital and discuss strategy with her dad before the rumors hit the university campus.

Waller stole another glance at her. He hesitated for a few seconds before finally blurting out the question gnawing at him.

"If it turns out that Beasley had nothing to do with your kidnapping in the past life... would you forgive him?"
