Chapter 176

I hadn’t misheard him. Hunter was the Lycan King.

And suddenly everything made sense. It clicked in my head violently, like my mind had been shaken until the pieces slammed into place, whether I was ready or not. Every time his people used the wrong title on me. Every time my family deferred to him. Why Kostas said 1 betrayed the pack. Why my parents had been so angry, even when they were fighting for their lives.
I’d been sleeping with the enemy.
I mated the enemy.
The one who, along with his father before him, had wiped out the Lordswood bloodline.
He’d watched me panic over the Lycan King coming for us. I’d gone after April. I’d spiralled, and still he hadn’t told me. Hunter had allowed this to happen. He’d stood by and let me tear myself apart while he held the truth.
I staggered back, my eyes locked on him. He didn’t move. Didn’t say anything to defend himself. His silence was louder than any confession.
Ice slid through my veins, and my whole body went cold. Betrayal curdled in my chest, turning into something vicious. Hunter might not have known who I was at first, but once he did, he’d known exactly what our mating would mean. And still, he’d let the bond grow and settle. He’d still let me mark him too.
He’d let our souls tangle so deeply that I’d ignored what he truly was.
A monster.
Something inside me cracked. My wolf went still, stunned into silence, but the ground trembled beneath my feet. Or maybe that was just my heart beating too hard to contain. The pendant warmed in my palm, responding to the shift inside me, and my thoughts went cold.
My heart calmed. Everything drained away, and something stripped me bare until only one thing remained. Vengeance. I wanted to hurt him as much as he’d hurt me. Those thoughts twisted inside me until the edges of my vision became tinted with red.
“Finally,” a voice sneered from beyond the gate. “We get to see this little omega princess who caused all this trouble.”
I turned towards the man. Hunter’s uncle, Jasper. He hadn’t hidden his intent; his dark aura had been what pulled me after Hunter in the first place. But standing there now, he felt small.
Hunter was the real danger.
“Step aside, omega,” Jasper snarled.
His command rolled through the air, but it didn’t touch me. Instead, I tracked every Lycan at the gate and everyone hiding in the trees. Jasper stepped closer, and his rage bloomed outward
“Kneel,” he roared.
My wolf stirred. The red haze crept over my vision, and I didn’t fight it.
“I will never kneel to you,” I snarled, my voice deep as it echoed into the night. “Filthy Lycan beast.”
Hunter staggered like I’d struck him. Like he knew those words were meant for him, too.

Chapter 176
Jasper laughed and reached for the gate, testing the ward. It vizzled and burned him, but he didn’t wop langtung,
The laugh cut off, and rage twisted his features. His eyes flashed and his beast pressed dose in the face
“You can’t hide behind the wards all night, omega,” Jasper snarled, and then his aura presed into me apm. “Open in Br
the wards.”
I stood motionless, detached from the scene, images of what I was going to do to him already fasting through my band They clearly didn’t know that Nathan’s magic was in his blood; he didn’t need any ornaments to create bis wards. For a second. Jasper’s arrogance persisted, and then it slowly drained from his face.
“Open the gate!” he shouted.
He’d thrown his command at me three times and persisted. He stepped back, a frown crossing his Exce, and his e calculating.
My rage was misdirected, but it demanded an outlet. I approached the gate slowly, and with each step. I scented conÉmon from the Lycans on the other side. But I didn’t want that. I wanted their fear. Their screams. Their blood
“Kitty-
“Don’t,” I growled.
I stepped past Hunter without looking at him until I was face-to-face with Jasper, only the thick bars of the gate keeping us
apart.
“You want it open?”
I unlatched the gate and shoved it wide open. Jasper was so close his breath warmed my face. Someone shuffled behind me Hunter. I sensed him moving forward, and Tanner hissing for him to stay back
Jasper was smug as he stepped forward, until the ward surged and burned him. He screamed and fell back
That scream. I inhaled, my eyes fluttering closed. The night with my coven hadn’t been enough. Tonight. Td feast until I was satisfied.
“Your Majesty-” Mr Tanner started.
My gaze snapped to him, and he fell silent. He stood with his art around Hunter, holding him up, but Hunter didn’t say a word.
More agents appeared behind them, with Nathan beside them, his expression wary. Their steps faltered when they noticed me. Something made their hearts race and their fear bloom. Was it me? Good.
I glanced at the pendant before I tossed it towards Nathan.
“Keep it safe.”
Then I stepped through the ward.
Jasper was still on the ground, writhing in pain, but the other Lyns grinned and inched forward. The smile returned on my lips as adrenaline flooded my veins. I’d waited long enough.
The shift tore through me without warning. Bones snapped and reformed instantly, and fire raced under my skin. My wolf burst free, cracking the asphalt beneath my paws. Like the other night, both parts of me merged, and my wolf and I became one. Primal instincts took over. I saw every detail on the people in front of me, and heard their hearts as they began to race.
Gasps rippled through the crowd.

Chapter 176
EL 55 your
Something had changed since the night at the castle. The men, who’d seemed so huge and menacing before, stepped back. I followed slowly, stalking them, the excitement of my first real hunt rushing through me.
And then I felt it.
Their fear. I inhaled it greedily until something awakened insidene. The power that had slid into me from the pendant settled as if it belonged. As if I really owned it. That hunger gnawed at me again, taking over me completely. And that rush flooded me. I wanted more of this.
“Impossible.” Jasper whispered.
Someone shifted, and I lunged, attacking without thought. His last looked like a mere puppy within my jaws.
The fear grew. And then the screams started.
Even in my wolf form, my fighting was instinctive. It was second nature. Blood sprayed the street. Man and beast alike dropped at my feet. Screams were cut short. Some of them shifted, not to attack me, but to escape. But they were too slow for me. Like a ghost, I appeared in front of them, and they froze their eyes wide with surprise.
I drank it all in.
Lycans, the very beasts that had brought our werewolf kingdom to its knees, whimpered and crouched, exposing their throats or their soft bellies. But I didn’t want their submission. I wanted to hear their bones snapping between my teeth. I wanted to see the fear in their eyes before their life drained from them.
My vision was still red when the last of them lay gasping at my feet, his fur slowly receding as his human form returned.
This had been more satisfying than the coven, but still not enough. My chest heaved with something I didn’t have a name
for.
“Impossible,” Jasper whispered again. “You’re an omega. You shouldn’t be like this.”
My head snapped around to him, and he scrambled back. I shifted back slowly, blood slicking my skin, glistening in the light of the full moon.
Jasper hadn’t made a move, but out of all the Lycans who had, he was the weakest. How did a man like that think he could lead?
I glanced around, tracking the movements in the trees.
