“In two days,” Roel declared, his voice swelling with triumph, “we will attend the grand party hosted by Malakai Group. Every influential figure in Bay City will be there.”
A confident smirk lifted the corner of his mouth.
“And on that night, the entire city will finally see the truth.”
He paused deliberately, letting the anticipation build.
“That our influence far surpasses that of Ashton Pierce.”
A wave of approving murmurs swept across the room. The men exchanged smug glances, nodding in satisfaction as quiet laughter followed.
Eventually, the meeting ended, one by one, they rose from their seats and headed for the exit of the private dining room.
But just as they stepped into the main hall, their strides slowed.
Not far from them, two familiar figures had just entered and were walking toward one of the tables.
Recognition flashed across their faces.
Roel’s lips curled into a mocking smile.
“Well, well…” he murmured under his breath.
Then, loud enough for the pair to hear, he let out a derisive snicker.
“Illicit affairs of married women are now openly displayed in Bay City, CEO Pierce?”
His gaze locked onto Ashton’s eyes, sharp and probing, before sliding deliberately to the woman standing beside him.
Vincent followed the direction of Roel’s stare, a scornful smirk forming on his face.
“While CEO Wallace is busy welcoming the most prominent figures of the business world–especially the distinguished associates of Malakai–his wife is here meeting her lover.”
Edward clicked his tongue and shook his head in exaggerated disappointment.
“Such a shameless display, Miss Greene,” he said coldly.
Red Knowles‘ gaze hardened as it settled on his daughter. There was no trace of fatherly warmth in his eyes–only contempt.
“You’re truly gambling everything for the sake of this ungrateful woman, aren’t you, CEO Pierce?” he sneered.
Silence followed.

Without the slightest hesitation, he raised his phone, angling it toward them as if preparing to capture the perfect scandal
Ashton’s jaw tightened, the muscles along his cheek flexing at Roel Danes blatant provocation. The audacity of the man–mocking them and openly attempting to take their picture–sent a surge of anger through him. He was already about to step forward and knock the phone from Roel’s hand when he felt a gentle touch on his arm

Her fingers rested lightly against his sleeve, a silent warning for him to stop
“Well,” Cassie said at last after her long silence, her lips curving into a sweet, almost harmless smile, “at least my husband would know exactly who I’m supposedly playing around with “Her voice was calm, almost playful.
“There would be no confusion on his part,” she continued smoothly.
“He certainly wouldn’t be foolish enough to raise someone else’s child.”
Her eyes slowly shifted, meeting Roel Danes‘ intent gaze before drifting–deliberately, almost lazily-
toward Red Knowles
“Unlike some people,” she added softly, “who let another man raise their child just to keep their secret
affairs from being discovered.”
A faint, malicious glint flickered in her eyes.
“It’s rather pitiful, don’t you think?” Cassie continued, her voice light but cutting.
“A man raising a child who isn’t even his blood while abandoning the one who truly is.”
Her gaze remained fixed on Red now, unwavering
“A child of his own flesh and blood,” she said quietly, “cast aside… all for the sake of a lie

Red Knowles‘ expression stiffened
“What exactly do you mean, Cassidy?” he muttered, his voice low as suspicion crept into his tone.

“Nothing, Mr. Knowles,” Cassie replied with an indifferent shrug.
“What I said was purely hypothetical.”
A pleasant smile rested on her lips as she spoke. Slowly, almost deliberately, she turned her gaze toward Roel Danes, the faint curve of her smile taking on a darker, more ominous edge.
Red’s eyes stayed fixed on her, studying her. Yet Cassidy no longer spared him a glance. Her attention was now entirely on President Danes.
“Isn’t it, President Danes?” Cassie asked lightly, her smile poised and graceful.
