Chapter 175
“Well, well, well alone tonight?”
Cassie’s steps came to an abrupt half as several figures suddenly moved to block her path
She didn’t even have time to react before the sharp, familiar voice reached her ears.
Mirriam stood at the center of the small group, her lips curled into a snickering smile. Her gaze slid past Cassie as she deliberately glanced behind her, clearly searching for the two men who were almost always seen nearby
Finding no sign of them, the smirk on her face widened.
“Well, that’s surprising,” she added mockingly.
Beside her, Tanya Shen crossed her arms over her chest, looking Cassie up and down with open disdain.
“So the two loyal protectors aren’t here tonight?” Tanya muttered coldly,
“What happened? Did the wannabe Madame finally run out of people willing to shield her?”
The women around them chuckled softly, clearly enjoying the moment.
Maricris stepped forward slightly, tilting her head as she studied Cassie with a mocking smile.
“If you think coming here alone will somehow salvage the reputations of CEO Wallace and Ashton Pierce while Malakai Group is still in the country…” she scoffed, her lips curling with ridicule as she exchanged amused glances with the other women.
A few soft, mocking laughs rippled through the group,
“…then I’m afraid you’re far too late, Madame Greene,
Their laughter rang out within their circle, echoing like a chorus of ridicule. Each woman wore the same expression of malicious delight, clearly savoring what they believed was Cassie’s humiliation.
But Cassie did not react the way they expected.
She simply stood there, calm and composed, watching them with an almost detached patience. Her expression remained placid as though their laughter were nothing more than background noise.
She waited.
Slowly, the mocking chuckles faded, the women finally noticing that their target had not shown any reaction, and had not even looked offended.
When the noise subsided, Cassie smiled.
Her gaze moved from one face to another–Mirriam, Tanya, Maricris, and the others–meeting their eyes one by one with quiet confidence.

“Well,” she said sweetly, her voice light and unhurried, “I’m not here tonight to save anything… or anyone.”
Not a trace of their earlier mockery seemed to touch her.
“I simply chose to be a strong, independent woman.” she continued calmly.
Her smile deepened, though there was unmistakable mockery hidden beneath its charm.
“One who doesn’t need a group of ass licking sidekicks, eagerly convincing each other they’re somehow at an advantage.”
The words were delivered so pleasantly that for a moment they almost sounded polite. But the insult was unmistakable.
“Why, you-!”
Mirriam took an angry step forward, her face flushing with fury. But the moment her eyes met Cassie’s expression, her movement stopped abruptly.
Cassie’s gaze had turned cold–so cold that they all stiffened.
The easy smile was still there, but her eyes had hardened into something sharp and dangerous.
“You’re only here as your father’s plus–one,” Cassie said quietly, her voice low but cutting.
“So I suggest you don’t exhaust your welcome.”
An ominous smirk slowly carved across her lips as she faced them without the slightest hint of fear. “You could be thrown out of this place the moment you cause even the slightest trouble.”
Maricris let out a short snicker.
“And you aren’t?” she asked mockingly, lifting a brow.
Mirriam’s confidence quickly returned, her earlier hesitation melting into a sneer as she crossed her
arms.
“We’re all on the same boat here, Cassidy,” she said, a mischievous glint flickering in her eyes.
“One wrong move… one tiny disturbance…”
She leaned slightly closer.
“And you’ll be the first one escorted out.”
The women around her exchanged knowing looks, their smiles growing wider as if they were already anticipating the spectacle.
Cassie noticed the shared mischief immediately. She studied them for a moment, then simply shrugged.
“Well,” she said lightly, an amused smile returning to her lips, “you’re welcome to try.”
Her gaze drifted slowly across their faces–calm, almost encouraging–as though she were inviting them to proceed.
“Let’s see who ends up being thrown out.”
An ominous smirk curved along Cassie’s lips, her composure untouched by the hostility surrounding her. If anything, her confidence only seemed to irritate the women further.
“Definitely you, Miss Greene.”
The deep male voice cut through the tension like a blade.
The women immediately fell silent.
Cassie raised a brow as several men approached from behind them. She recognized them instantly–the same men she and Ashton had crossed paths with days ago. Including her estranged father.
Roel Danes stepped forward slightly, a snicker escaping his lips as his sharp gaze settled on Cassie.
