Chapter 205

“You seem particularly invested in Malakai Group’s welfare, CEO Pierce,” Vasili said.

“Since when do you involve yourself in matters like this?”

His gaze stayed on Ashton, measured, probing waiting.

“You already know why, Vasili Wright,” Ashton replied, his voice low

“I know nothing,” Vasili said with a casual shrug.

“Reports are one thing. But when it comes to personal matters, I prefer hearing it directly from the person involved.”

“The report came from my side,” Ashton countered, leaning forward slightly. His eyes sharpened, cold and focused on Vasili.

“What more do you need?”

“I haven’t heard it from you,” Vasili said, unbothered.

A beat.

“Not yet.”

The air shifted.

“Fuck you,” Ashton muttered, the restraint in his voice slipping.

His jaw tightened, teeth set. The calm he carried earlier cracked just enough to show what was underneath. He looked ready to push back harder-to escalate.

Cassie felt it immediately. The change.

It wasn’t just tension anymore. It was close to breaking.

For a split second, she considered stepping in-saying something, anything. But the look on Ashton’s face stopped her.

Cold. Sharp. Uncontrolled in a way that made it clear-this wasn’t something she could interfere with.

“No matter the situation, I still rule this territory, CEO Pierce.”

Vasili’s voice dropped, colder now. Sharper.

“That’s the reason we each have our own domains. And right now-”

-” his gaze hardened “—you’re in me.”

The weight of it settled heavily between them.

Beside her, Cassie reached for Zandrie’s hand. Only then did she realize how cold it was.

Zandrie was just as tense. Just as affected.

Neither of them dared move, barely even breathed, afraid that any small sound might set the two men off.

“You two, enough.”

Larry finally stepped in.

Unlike the others who seemed almost entertained-his tone carried clear irritation.

“You’re scaring Chairman Greene,” he added, glancing briefly at Cassie before looking back at them.

“Talk like professionals. We have a situation to resolve, and this isn’t helping.” He clicked his tongue.

“Unless you’re both planning to turn this into another clash.”

“We still have the culprits to deal with,” Samuel said with a careless shrug.

“Skin them alive,” Ashton muttered, not once looking away from Vasili. “They deserve a slow death.”

“You’re ruthless, Ashton Pierce,” Carl remarked, a hint of mock disbelief in his voice. “You’re going to scare the Chairman. Look at her she’s gone pale.”/

Ashton’s gaze flicked to Cassie. Just for a second. Then it returned to Vasili, as if nothing else mattered.

“Well,” Denver cut in, smirking, “Kamilla and Lia already have something in mind.”

Carl let out a short laugh. “Those two are dangerous. Worse than all of us combined.”

“I’d like to know what they’re planning this time,” Samuel added, shaking his head.

Cassie caught it then-the shift. The way they spoke about the two women carried something lighter. Fatniliar. Almost fond.

It didn’t match the cold atmosphere from earlier. And it only made things more confusing.

“We’ll continue this tomorrow,” Vasili said, still holding Ashton’s gaze.

“For now, arrangements have been made. A penthouse is ready.”

He stood, but didn’t look away immediately. Then his attention shifted-to Cassie.

“Get some rest,” he said flatly. “Your woman looked like she is about to pass out.

Without waiting for a response, he turned and walked out.

Cassie blinked, thrown off by the remark.

Your woman.

The words lingered.

“2

Confused, she turned to Ashton-but he wasn’t looking at her. His eyes followed Vasili until the door closed.

Her thoughts spiraled, trying to make sense of everything, unaware that everyone is watching her.

“Ashton never left Bay City because of a girl he’s been protecting since she was four.”

Samuel’s voice cut through her thoughts.

Cassie looked at him, her curiosity rising. What he was saying is somewhat familiar.

Ashton turned sharply, glaring at Samuel-but the man didn’t seem concerned.

“Don’t be surprised, Chairman Greene,” Carl said as he stood.

“We knew who you were before your plane even landed in Cape City.” he smirked.
