Cassidy claimed her place beside Zandrie after the polite exchanges with Jefferson and Zabrina, her posture perfectly composed and her smile flawless as they continued greeting the approaching guests.
“Your woman seemed not to know her place- until now,” Cassie murmured when they finally had a moment of privacy.
Zandrie turned to her, studying her expression as if weighing her words. Cassie met his gaze calmly, unflinching.
“Nissa?” he muttered, his eyes subtly scanning the crowd as if expecting the woman to appear.
Cassie’s lips curved faintly. “Arrogance can be dangerous,” she said evenly. “I’ve never interfered with your rendezvous, Drie. But lately, too many people seem interested in stirring the pot–your marriage, your private activities.”
Her eyes swept across the room, taking in the guests with effortless grace.
“Being a CEO and the face of every business transaction bearing my name responsibility,” she continued.
“You also have an image to uphold- as a respectable husband.”

She smiled then, warm and charming, directing it toward Zab across the room–as if this conversation were nothing more than idle commentary on the evening’s festivities.
“I don’t care how many women you bed,” Cassie went on, her tone light, almost playful.
“Or how much money you spend on them. Just keep it discreet.”
She offered a dazzling smile to a passing guest who glanced their way, never missing a beat.
“The last thing I want,” she added dryly, rolling her eyes, “is a rumor about my husband enjoying another woman’s lap while I’m at home doing laundry.”
Her voice remained calm, controlled—but the warning beneath it was unmistakable.
“I’ll make sure this won’t happen again, Cassie,” Drie muttered, his jaw tightening as his gaze dropped to the goblet in his hand.
“As you should, CEO Wallace,” she replied coolly, not even sparing him a glance.
“We are bound by a business contract. If certain conditions are not met, it gives me every reason to terminate it. You will be left with nothing. Even your inheritance”
Only then did she shift slightly, her tone still maddeningly casual.
“Handle your personal affairs,” Cassie added. “Or I will handle them for you.”
A charming smile curved her lips as she lifted her hand in a graceful wave, having caught sight of

Nissa Loew watching from across the room.
The smile was deliberate–taunting,
Nissa failed to mask her irritation, her expression hardening as she returned the gesture with a piercing, icy stare.
“Even now, she can’t hide how much she loathes seeing us together,” Cassie chuckled softly, lifting her glass and pressing its rim to her lips.
“You spoiled her too much,” she added with a quiet snort. “She’s jealous of your own wife.”
Zandrie remained silent, calmly sipping his drink, seemingly unfazed by the sharp, resentful glare/ burning into them from across the room.
“I’ll have her escorted out if she annoys you,” he said at last, breaking the silence.
“It’s fine,” Cassie replied lightly. “I’m enjoying watching her looking like that.” She let out a brief laugh before turning to meet his gaze.
“Besides, after all this charade, I was never meant to be the chosen one.”
Zandrie shook his head. “Do I even get a choice in choosing you?” he asked, his expression unreadable as he held her stare.
Cassie studied him for a moment, saying nothing–until a faint smirk curved her lips.
“I didn’t realize I was among the choices,” she said with a soft snort, entirely unbothered.
