“I am CEO Wallace’s wife,” Cassie continued smoothly, her tone light yet deliberate, “so it’s only natural that I involve myself in his business dealings. Whatever happens, I know how to lead the companies under his name.” Her lips curved into a composed smile–one that was far too calm to be harmless.

“I will inherit everything.” The smile widened just enough to make its purpose clear. She was enjoying this.

“And besides,” she added pleasantly, “Knowles Corporation is a family legacy. I would be more than happy to help bring it to greater heights.”

“So presumptuous,” Mirriam muttered coldly.

Leaning slightly closer, Mirriam lowered her voice, careful to keep her composure intact for the guests around them.

“Do you really think I’ll let you set foot inside Knowles Corporation?”

Cassie turned to her then, unbothered, almost amused.

“Then stop me,” she replied softly, an ominous glint flashing in her eyes.

Mirriam’s jaw tightened. “Bitch. I’ll make sure CEO Wallace dumps you soon. Before you even realize it, you’ll be signing divorce papers.”

Cassie only chuckled under her breath. “I’ll be looking forward to it.”

Then she shrugged lightly and shifted her attention, deliberately turning away from Mirriam and toward

Madame Rima.

“But in the meantime, Miss Sylvia and I have something to discuss.”

At that, Cassie’s gaze returned to Sylvia, her expression turning almost thoughtful. “She was telling me about my mother… about the day I was born.”

Rima stiffened.

“She said my mother was remarkably strong,” Cassie went on casually, her words carefully chosen. “After hours of labor, she still had the strength to hold me–she even nursed me herself.” Her voice softened, but the intent sharpened.

“Miss Sylvia mentioned how shocked she was when my mother suddenly began bleeding profusely,” Cassie added, tilting her head slightly.

“It happened right after a nurse administered a medicine that was supposed to help her recover faster.” A faint, sad smile touched her lips.

“I can’t help but find her death… suspicious,” she said quietly. “So I’m trying to understand what truly happened that day.” Her eyes lifted to Rima’s face, unblinking.

“We helped Daisy throughout her pregnancy, especially during her delivery. There was nothing suspicious about her death. Excessive bleeding happens. Her body simply couldn’t take it.” She shrugged lightly, as if stating an unfortunate but ordinary fact.

“It was beyond anyone’s control–even the doctors‘.” Her eyes hardened as they returned to Sylvia.

“Don’t fill Cassidy’s head with nonsense,” Rima warned, her tone sharp with implication.
