Chapter 92
This time, the bitterness slipped through. Years of it–pressed down, swallowed, endured–bled into her words.
“All I ever wanted was a family. A home.” She paused, drawing a deep breath, memories flashing like shards of glass.
“And I believed–foolishly–that if I did everything you asked of me, I would finally earn it.” Her eyes narrowed.
“I made myself smaller so you could stand taller,” she said quietly.
“I pretended to be dull so Mirriam could shine. I played the fool so she could be praised.” A bitter chuckle escaped her lips.
“And still, you took everything I ever dreamed of.”
She smiled then–but it was wistful, hollow.
“You were the ones who forced me out of my shell. You pushed me to reclaim the brilliance Mirriam only borrowed.” Her gaze slid to Mirriam, sharp and unflinching.
“Your excellent grades,” Cassie said coolly, “were mine. And pieces of paper won’t save you in the real world.”
She let out an amused snort.
“They’re just ink and signatures–silent when brilliance is actually required.”
Cassie tapped her temple lightly.
“Everything I need is here.”
Her smile returned, slow and knowing. “You have no idea how this mind works. It wasn’t meant just to finish your assignments or ace your term papers. It was always capable of far more.”
A soft, mocking laugh echoed in the restroom.
“And yet,” she continued, eyes glittering, “you had the audacity to look down on me. To call me insignificant.”
She straightened, her presence suddenly overwhelming in the confined space.
“Well,” Cassie said calmly, “this is only the beginning.”
“I will make sure you pay–for every single thing you took away from me.” Her gaze hardened, her voice dropping into a quiet warning.
Rima and Mirriam watched Cassidy’s daunting smile, refusing to be the first to falter. They clung to their pride like armor, even as unease crept beneath their skin.

“Your boldness exists only because of CEO Wallace and CEO Holt,” Rima sneered.
“Strip them away, and you are nothing. Yes, you’re intelligent–but only clever enough to scheme your way into powerful men’s favor.”
Mirriam’s lips curved into a smug smile, her eyes gleaming with triumph.
“Let’s see how confident you are once CEO Wallace learns I’m carrying his child.”
Cassidy merely arched a brow, her expression untouched.
“That fast?” she asked mildly, a soft chuckle escaping her. “How… efficient.”
Unbothered by the reaction she failed to provoke, Mirriam straightened.
“I made sure,” she said proudly.
“I ensured I was fertile before I brought him into that room. Mr. Lemuel can confirm it–CEO Wallace and
I spent the night together. I sent Mr. Lemuel away the moment we arrived.”
She placed a hand over the slight hollow of her stomach, basking in her own imagined victory.
“I can already feel the signs of life growing inside me,” Mirriam continued, her voice dripping with satisfaction.
“Soon, CEO Wallace will have no choice but to divorce you.”
Her smile widened. “And when that happens, you’ll lose CEO Holt’s favor too.”
Rima let out a low, pleased laugh.
“I can’t wait to see you crumble again,” she said. “Begging us for another chance–just like before.”
She leaned in slightly, her eyes narrowing. “No matter what nonsense you spew, no one will believe you. Especially Red Knowles. You can never threaten me, Cassidy. I’ll make sure you’re ruined first–so thoroughly that no one will ever dare listen to you again.”
Their laughter lingered in the restroom, sharp and self–satisfied.
Cassidy said nothing at first. She simply regarded them, unshaken, her gaze steady and unnervingly
calm.
Then, slowly, a smile curved her lips.
“Unfortunately,” she murmured, almost thoughtfully, “the past doesn’t repeat itself.”
Rima’s eyes hardened. “We’ll see about that.”
Cassidy’s smile didn’t waver.
“Indeed,” she replied lightly. “Let’s see whose ruin it will be this time.”

She stepped aside then, smooth and deliberate, brushing past them as if they were nothing more than an inconvenience in her path.
Just before she left, she paused.
“Oh–and congratulations on the pregnancy,” she added with a soft, careless chuckle. “I can’t wait to see Zandrie’s reaction.”
“He will finally have an heir,” Mirriam scoffed arrogantly. “What else do you expect his reaction to be?”
Her chin lifted, pride radiating from every movement. “Of course he’ll be ecstatic. I gave him what you failed to give him in six years of marriage.”
Rima’s lips curled into a satisfied smile. “And once that child is born,” she added with a low chuckle,” even CEO Jefferson Holt will have no choice but to favor Mirriam. A grandson changes everything.”
They laughed–already tasting victory.
Cassidy let them have it.
She stood there quietly, watching their triumph bloom, as though humoring children celebrating too early. Then she smiled and stepped back into the moment.
“Sure,” she said easily. “An heir.”
She tilted her head, voice light, almost conversational. “Along with the other heirs Zandrie has scattered across the country.”
Their smiles faltered.
“You’ll be just another inconvenience to him,” Cassidy continued calmly, “and to his parents.” She shrugged. “That is–if the child in your womb is even his.”
A soft chuckle escaped her as she turned away, utterly unbothered.
She didn’t wait for an answer.
The sharp echo of her heels faded down the corridor, leaving Rima and Mirriam frozen in place–victory draining from their faces.
