When the hallway finally quieted, I rubbed my forehead. “Make sure she never steps foot in this building again. Every entrance needs to be updated with her face.”
“Yes, Luna,” security responded.
I walked back into my office and shut the door.
My phone buzzed. A message from Daniel popped up.
I heard shouting on your floor. Do you need me to come down?
I typed back: Handled it. Clara barged into the building.
His reply came instantly. I’m coming down anyway.
I let out a slow breath and sat in my chair.
This world was brutal and political. Power mattered. Respect mattered. Order mattered.
Mark had lost his company.
Clara had lost her mind.
And this was only the beginning because they would crawl to my feet.
I closed my eyes for a moment and let my wolf settle. There was still more to do, more to plan, more to dismantle in Mark’s world.
Daniel walked into my office without knocking, as usual. His jaw was tight.
“You alright?” he asked.
“Yes.”
“Good. Because anyone who comes at you comes at me.”
I nodded.
The day wasn’t over yet, and Mark’s downfall wasn’t either. The pack would feel the shift soon enough.
One thing was clear in my mind.
I wasn’t done.
And the North would stand with me.

I woke up the next day expecting a quiet morning, but the entire pack seemed to be vibrating with whispers. Clara’s tantrum at Carter Holdings had spread faster than wildfire.
By the time I stepped into my office, three different departments had already sent “incident notes,” and Bella was pacing with a tablet pressed to her chest.
“Everyone is talking.” she said as soon as I walked in. “Other alphas called in to confirm if Clara was really arrested inside the company.”
I barely sat down before she added, “And two Enforcers from the Council are downstairs. They didn’t book an appointment.”
I frowned. “Council Enforcers? For what?”
“They wouldn’t say.”
That alone was enough to make my wolf stir. Council Enforcers didn’t do casual visits. They didn’t drop by for tea. They showed up when they thought something was out of order. And with Mark’s downfall happening at full speed, I knew exactly whose mouth had dragged them in.
“Send them in,” I told her.
She nodded and left, and a moment later, the door opened again. Two wolves stepped inside wearing the
the Council didn’t believe in uniforms — just formal wear Council’s black insignia. Not uniforms embroidered with the silver crescent that marked their rank.
The first one spoke. “Luna Amy Carter.”
–
His tone was calm, but I knew judgment when I heard it.
“Yes,” I answered. “Have a seat.”
They didn’t. Council Enforcers loved theatrics.
–
“We received reports that you influenced corporate matters and pack matters for personal retaliation,” the second one said. “We want clarity on the issue involving Mark Dalton.”
I didn’t roll my eyes, even though my wolf wanted to. “What specific issue?”
The first one exchanged a quick look with the other. “The rapid change of ownership in his company. The financial investigation. His removal from pack activities. Clara’s arrest.”
I leaned back. “I didn’t arrest Clara. Security arrested Clara because she barged into my company and caused a scene. And Mark’s company falling apart has nothing to do with me. If he violated the law, then
the law acts.”
“You’re also the licensing officer of Carter Holdings,” one of them said. “That gives you influence. Influence you may be abusing.”
I kept my voice steady. “Show me the rule I violated.”

Before either of them could speak, my office door opened again this time without knocking.
Daniel walked in.

Not the Daniel that curled around me at night. Not the man that brushed my hair behind my ear every morning. This was Alpha Daniel Carter quiet, controlled strength in every step.
When the Enforcers straightened, Daniel didn’t bother acknowledging their attempt at respect. He came to my side and placed his hand on the back of my chair. Not possessively. Just a clear line saying mine- my mate, my Luna, my equal.
“What accusation are you making against her?” he asked, voice calm but firm.
“We’re only seeking clarity,” the first Enforcer said.
“Then ask a clear question.”
Silence stretched. The Enforcers looked at each other again.
“We want to know whether Luna Amy used her authority to target Mark Dalton.”
