Chapter 296 How Possible?
AMY

I was seated in my office the next day going over the latest financial reports, scanning Mark’s accounts and cross–referencing his pack communications, when the door to my office burst open and Clara barged in.
Her hair was a mess, eyes rimmed red, and her usual polished composure was gone. She stomped in, slamming the door behind her. “You can’t do this to me!” she screamed, her voice shaking. “This–this witch–hunt–you’re ruining my life!”
I didn’t flinch. I kept my eyes on the spreadsheets in front of me, pretending she wasn’t a hurricane of chaos barreling toward me because this was getting too annoying.
“I–I’ve been getting threats, Amy!” she wailed. “Threats because of you! Do you even know what you’re doing?”
“I know exactly what I’m doing, Clara,” I said evenly, folding my hands. “You’re making a lot of noise for someone who’s supposed to be a mature adult. Sit down or leave.”
She didn’t sit. She paced. Her hands shook as she gestured wildly. “You think you can ruin me? You think you’re clever? You’re obsessed! This isn’t just about Mark–you’re trying to ruin me!”
I kept my voice calm. “I’m not obsessed. I’m protecting the pack. And if you’d focus on being truthful instead of screaming, maybe you’d understand that and stop acting insane.”
She threw herself into the chair across from mine, sobbing uncontrollably. “I can’t take it anymore! You- Amy–you–you’ve made my life impossible!”
I stayed silent, letting her rant. She needed to exhaust herself before I moved in.
Then, between hiccups and tears, her anger slipped, her mask broke. “I–I know Mark has been contacting… friends outside the pack. I didn’t want anyone to know, but I—I—”
I leaned forward slightly and hit the recorder on my desk with one finger.
Her head jerked up, eyes wide. “Wait–what did you just do?” she stammered.
“You just admitted it, Clara,” I said quietly. “You know about his rogue contacts. That’s the proof I’ve been waiting for.”
Panic washed over her face. She lunged for the device, but before she could reach it, the door opened, and Cole stepped in. His presence alone made Clara freeze.
“Excuse me,” Cole said, voice calm but firm. “You’re coming with me.”
Clara tried to pull away, wailing, but he took her arm and guided her out of my office. She kept struggling, screaming, and cursing, but she didn’t get the recorder.
I waited until the door clicked shut, then exhaled slowly. Finally, after months of planning, months of watching Mark and Clara manipulate their way through the pack and the corporate world, I had something concrete. A confession, tied to rogue dealings outside our pack’s laws.
