Chapter 110 Flung Your Ring Back
As soon as Bethan’s words landed, the room went utterly still, and Hugh’s face stiffened bit by bit.
Mason glanced at Hugh and then awkwardly rubbed the bridge of his nose. “Bethan, you’ve been married to Hugh for three years. That’s not the kind of joke you should make.”
The others quickly chimed in, “That’s right, Bethan. Everyone knows how much Hugh spoils you. If he really had someone else out there, I’d eat my hat.”
Another added, “Hugh is successful and still so devoted to his family. He’s the model husband in our circle.”
A third echoed, “Exactly, Bethan. Mr. Cavill has always been known for his clean reputation.”
Bethan listened with quiet composure. She then looked straight at Hugh and said, “We’re in the middle of a divorce. If you don’t believe me, ask him.”
At once, every gaze in the room shifted to Hugh. 1/5

In the hallway, the two of them stood face to face while the others hid by the doorway, watching.
Hugh held back his frustration as he spoke, “Let’s find somewhere to talk in private.”
Bethan kept a straight face as she said, “There’s no point in that. Bring along the woman you love. Maybe then we’ll reach a conclusion.”
Hugh’s face darkened. “Bethan, do you really have to drag someone else into our marriage?”
Bethan yanked her hand free, took back her bag, and corrected him, “She isn’t someone else. She’s the woman you love. She’s the mother of your child.”
They stared at each other at close range, the air heavy and tense. Hugh gave a faint, bitter pull at the corner of his mouth but offered no explanation.
Bethan’s tone turned cold as she warned him, “Hugh, even if you have power over everything in New York, even if the Cavill Group has the strongest team of lawyers,
it won’t erase the fact that you cheated during your
adriage and fathered a child.

to court in three days, I won’t just ruin your reputation. I’ll make sure the woman you love is branded forever as the homewrecker who broke a marriage.”
With that, Bethan turned and walked away. Hugh did not follow.
Mason stepped out of the room, pulled a pink diamond ring from Hugh’s pocket, and shoved it into Gwen’s hand.
Then, he pushed Gwen forward to chase after Bethan. “Take Hugh’s ring to her. See if she’ll accept it.”
While Gwen went after Bethan, Mason ordered the music downstairs to stop and requested a song.
After that, he dragged Hugh into a corner on the second floor. “Listen, Hugh. If Bethan accepts the ring, it means she hasn’t fully let go of you. If she refuses, then you’d better face it and move on.”
Hugh stood silently in the corner, his body rigid as his eyes stayed locked on the scene below.
Downstairs, Gwen held out the ring to Bethan and said,

“Here, I’m giving it to you for him. For the sake of the twenty years you two grew up together, just give him another chance, yeah?”
Without waiting for Bethan’s answer, Gwen shoved the ring into her hand and ran off.
The pink diamond in Bethan’s palm gleamed under the light, dazzling and bright.
Staring into the glow, memories of her and Hugh came rushing back-the joy, the pain, the laughter, the tears, and the despair that had once broken her.
Right then, the resident singer’s voice rose with raw emotion. “There ain’t no gold in this river, that I’ve been washing my hands in forever.”
Bethan had heard that song before. She leaned back against the wall, tilted her head slightly, and closed her eyes, listening in silence.
When the song reached its chorus, she slowly opened her eyes. Lowering her gaze, she raised her hand and let her fingers slip open.

time with the song. Bethan turned firmly on her heel and walked away.
Hugh stood at the corner of the staircase on the second floor. He watched Bethan walk away with absolute finality, yet he made no move to follow.
Mason tried to reason with him. “Hugh, the divorce hearing’s in three days. Bethan just spilled everything in that private room, airing your mess for all to see. That’s the second time she’s flung your ring back at you. She’s done, man. Let her go and get this divorce over with.”
