Chapter 111 My Marriage Is My Business
Expressionless, Hugh took the ring from Gwen and walked off without a word.
The news had spread like wildfire through the elite circles.
By the next morning, the gossip had exploded. Now, almost everyone knew Hugh was keeping a mistress and a love child outside and that his marriage was on the rocks and divorce was imminent.
Hugh was summoned back to Cavill Manor in a hurry.
The grand living room of Cavill Manor thrummed with tension, the air thick as if charged with an oncoming storm. Hugh’s grandfather, parents, and two uncles sat before him, their faces a gallery of fury and dismay.
His father, Ryan, flushed crimson, his voice a thunderclap. “Hesitation breeds chaos, Hugh! I told you to cut ties with that woman, and now look at this disaster! Dragging the situation out hasn’t done you a bit1⁄2 of good!”

His uncles leaned in, their voices heavy with worry. “You’re the head of this family, Hugh. If you don’t handle this cleanly, it’s not just your name at stake-it’s the Cavill Group. Think carefully.”
Fiona, Hugh’s mother, exhaled a tired sigh, her tone softer but no less pressing. “Talk to Bethan before the court date, Hugh. Settle this and end the marriage.”
Hugh sat across from them, his expression unreadable. When he spoke, his voice was low and resolute. “My marriage is my business. Even though you are my family, you don’t get to dictate that.”
A sharp thud echoed as his grandfather, Harvey, struck the floor with his cane.
“How dare you!” Harvey’s voice cut like a blade. “The Cavill Group is a legacy forged over generations. As its heir, you can’t afford a single blemish on your name. If you can’t put an end to this mess and divorce Bethan, then don’t blame me for going after the Olsen family.”
Hugh, Fiona, and Gwen shot to their feet in unison.

Fiona stepped forward, her tone pleading. “Harvey, whatever happens, Bethy is Hugh’s wife. You can’t burn that bridge entirely.”
Harvey’s gaze didn’t waver. “This isn’t your place to speak.”
Hugh’s deep eyes narrowed, his voice slow, each word laced with warning. “Grandfather, if you so much as hurt the Olsen family, you’ll answer to me.”
Harvey, steadied by the butler, rose to his feet, his eyes locked on his grandson.
For a moment, they stood face-to-face, the air crackling with unspoken defiance.
Harvey’s tone grew colder, like frost on steel. “Anyone who threatens your future-or the Cavill Group’s success -will be dealt with, no matter who they are.”
Hugh’s hands balled into fists at his sides.

Their eyes held for a moment longer before Hugh turned and strode out, his steps echoing in the silence.
Night draped the Blue Bay Community in heavy stillness.
In his bedroom, Hugh wore only a dark robe, the sash tied loosely at his waist. The open collar dipped low across his chest, revealing the faint ripple of lean muscle
beneath as he moved.
He cradled a glass of whiskey, his gaze fixed on the wedding portrait on the wall.
In it, Bethan glowed in her white gown, her smile a burst of sunlight as she leaned into him.
His phone, set to speaker, lay on the bed.
Mason’s voice came through. “Hugh, you know how ruthless your grandfather is. If you keep clinging to this, you’re not just hurting Bethan-you’re dragging her family into the crossfire. End this on good terms. Don’t make her hate you.”
The call ended, leaving the room steeped in silence. 4/6
