Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 114

Chapter 114 She’s Also My Friend

Hugh’s gaze flicked to Bethan’s parents, his expression unreadable.

Vincent, desperate for his daughter, swallowed his pride and pleaded. “Please, I’m begging you.”

Hugh paused, the silence heavy as stone.

When he spoke, his voice was cold and unyielding. “Vincent, Miranda, I’m the CEO of the Cavill Group. If company secrets have been leaked, I have a duty to pursue it to the end. I must give every employee an answer.”

The late-night air in Hugh’s sprawling villa hung heavy, thick with unspoken tension.

Jacob was briefing Hugh on Bethan’s case when Mason burst in, uninvited, his presence like a storm breaking the calm.

Hugh flicked a glance at Jacob, who murmured an excuse and slipped out, leaving the two men alone.

Mason a drink, handing it over with a calm that felt almost provocative.

Mason snatched the glass but slammed it down on the

coffee table, whiskey sloshing over the rim. “So it was really you, Hugh.”

Hugh’s reply was smooth, elusive as a shadow. “The police will sort it out fairly.”

Mason’s chest heaved, his anger barely leashed. “Jacob’s been your right-hand man for years. He won’t make rookie mistakes like this!”

Hugh sank onto the sofa, flicking on the TV with a nonchalant air.

“Even the sharpest slip up sometimes. Jacob’s only human-mistakes happen.”

Mason spun around in frustration, his voice rising. “Hugh, you can fool others, but not me. I know your games. You’re calculated. And patient. You have more tricks than anyone I know. But those tricks shouldn’t be

used on Bethan.”

Mason pressed on, his voice thick with conviction. “I won’t stand by while you destroy her. I’m vouching for her, getting her out on bail, and making sure she walks away from you.”

He turned to storm out, but Hugh’s voice sliced through the air, low and laced with menace.

“Mason, this is between me and my wife. If you meddle, don’t expect me to play nice.”

Mason froze, then whirled back, his emotions spilling

over.

“Bethan’s not just your wife-she’s also my friend. We grew up together. I can’t sit back while you tear her apart!”

With that, he stormed out, the door slamming in his wake.

Hugh drifted to the floor-to-ceiling window, staring into the inky night. He stood there, still as stone, for what felt like an eternity.

Then, he reached for his phone and dialed Mason’s 20:13

immediate return to the manor.”

An hour later, Hugh stepped out of his car at Cavill

Manor.

Before he could enter the door, Gwen charged toward him, her face flushed with fury. “Hugh, you had Bethan thrown in jail? Have you no shame?”

Hugh’s eyes narrowed, his voice sharp with authority. “Stay out of it, Gwen. This is between me and Bethan.”

Logan gently steered Gwen away, his touch calm but firm.

Inside the grand living room, Fiona’s expression was glacial.

“If Mason hadn’t let it slip, how long were you planning to keep us in the dark?”

Hugh lowered his gaze, silent.

Fiona’s voice quivered with exasperation. “Bethan’s been locked up all night, and you’re just carrying on like it’s nothing? Pull some strings, Hugh-get her out!” 4/6
