Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 158

Chapter 158 Why Is She Wearing My Clothes?

On the third floor, suites were reserved for VIPs.

In Hugh and Bethan’s suite, Megan emerged from the bathroom, freshly showered and wearing clean clothes.

Seeing Hugh smoking by the floor-to-ceiling window, Megan approached cautiously. “Hugh, I’ve changed. Thank you for helping me out.”

Hugh turned, his gaze lingering on her outfit, his expression unreadable. “The driver’s downstairs. Head back now.”

Then he added, “Don’t use the main entrance.”

Megan nodded but didn’t move.

To keep Bethan from seeing her in Bethan’s clothes, Hugh wouldn’t even let her use the front door.

Studying his face, Megan apologized. “Hugh, tonight was mymistake. I didn’t mean to cause a misunderstanding 51

Hugh stubbed out his cigarette. “I know it wasn’t intentional. I don’t blame you.”

Megan felt a wave of relief, her tense nerves easing.

“From now on,” Hugh said evenly, “you should change the way you address me.”

Six years ago, when he agreed to date Megan, he’d allowed her to call him by his first name.

When she returned, swept up in the joy of their reunion and pity for her struggles, he’d let it continue.

But tonight, seeing Bethan’s cold expression as she questioned him, his heart sank.

He realized that since Megan’s return, Bethan had stopped calling him “Huggie.”

But lately, he’d grown more distant-cold or distracted at every meeting.

She’d gone to great lengths to get him to meet her, but he’d leave after a few minutes.

Compared to when she first returned, Hugh was growing visibly impatient with her.

He couldn’t let go of Bethan. He wanted to save their marriage. He wanted to push her away.

Her gaze fell on an open pack of cigarettes and a lighter An the coffee table, a glint of calculation in her eyes. 16:54

Megan slowly unbuttoned the top two buttons of her blouse and picked up the cigarettes and lighter.

At the same time, in the hallway, Bethan and Nora supported Edith, followed by the group of socialites, when they ran into Hugh.

Hugh stopped in front of Bethan, his expression neutral. “What are you all doing here?”

Bethan smiled, “You came up to rest without telling me. I was looking for you downstairs forever.”

Hugh pressed his lips together, frowning slightly.

Nora chimed in, “Mrs. Cavill was bored, so she invited us up for some bridge. We just ran into you.”

Hugh gazed at Bethan, his eyes narrowing slightly.

He took her hand calmly and explained, “I came up to make a call. I was about to come find you.”

Edith, seeing this, urged everyone downstairs. “Bethy, since Hugh’s here, let’s save bridge for next time.” 5/7

Megan stepped out of the room, holding the cigarettes and lighter. “Hugh, you left your cigarettes and lighter inside.”
