Chapter 161 Take It Out on Me
Late at night, the black luxury cars rolled into Cavill
Manor.
Logan opened the door with a respectful bow. “Mr. Cavill, Mrs. Cavill, please.”
As Hugh and Bethan got out, Megan rushed to Hugh’s side, frantic. “Hugh, I’m so scared. What do I do?”
Logan stepped between Megan and Hugh, cutting them off. “Ms. Ridley, Mrs. Cavill is present. Mind your place.”
Megan glanced at Bethan, quickly backing off.
Hugh looked at Megan’s terrified expression and reassured her, “Don’t be afraid. I’ve got your back.”
Megan nodded gratefully, relief washing over her.
Mason, standing nearby, scoffed under his breath.
Gwen stomped her foot in frustration.
After comforting Megan, Hugh turned to Bethan.

Seeing her standing still, he stepped forward and took her hand.
Bethan didn’t resist-also couldn’t resist.
Hugh was a master at keeping up appearances.
Holding her hand as they entered was just to show his family that, despite Megan’s presence, he could handle his wife and keep their marriage intact.
He wanted his grandfather to see that keeping Megan around wouldn’t bring any trouble.
At Cavill Manor’s entrance, maids and bodyguards stood respectfully in two rows.
Megan followed Logan into the living room, her heart pounding.
Seeing Hugh holding Bethan’s hand as they walked side by side, Megan’s eyes burned with jealousy.
If Bethan weren’t here, she’d be the one Hugh was leading into the house.

In the main hall, Harvey sat at the head.
Hugh’s parents flanked him.
The manor’s security captain stood respectfully by the door.
The vast living room was eerily quiet, the atmosphere so heavy it stifled even a breath.
Mason lingered at a distance, not approaching.
Gwen, seeing this, didn’t dare step forward either.
Logan stopped, and Megan halted behind him.
Hugh led Bethan to face his family.
Harvey gave Logan a look.
Logan prompted Megan. “Ms. Ridley, please step forward.”
Megan, trembling, inched to Hugh’s side, too scared to
move closer.

Hugh’s conflicted gaze lingered on Bethan for a few seconds before he let go of her hand and stood beside Megan.
He spoke up, “Grandpa, whatever this is about-take it out on me.”
Before Harvey could speak, Hugh was the first to declare his stance.
Ryan jabbed a finger at Hugh, his voice dripping with fury. “Throwing away your reputation for some woman? You’re a disgrace!”
Hugh didn’t flinch. “Dad, take it out on me if you want, but Megan’s innocent.”
Megan stood beside him, her eyes flickering with uncertainty.
Things had reached this point, and she saw a chance to cement her place in Hugh’s life, to make their relationship undeniable in front of his family.
Steeling herself, she stepped boldly toward Harvey. 4/7

“Sir Cavill, even if you sentence me to death, please give me a chance to explain,” she said.
Without waiting for a response, Megan rushed on. “I’m Ms. Davis’ friend. She invited me to Huvale Group’s gala tonight. I had no idea Hugh and Bethan would be there.”
Gwen couldn’t take it anymore. “You liar! Sneaking into my brother’s room, wearing Bethan’s clothes, and you’ve got the nerve to make excuses?”
Megan’s face burned with humiliation, but she held back her temper. “I’m not making excuses. My clothes got ruined, and Hugh, to spare me the embarrassment, took me to the suite and let me borrow Mrs. Cavill’s outfit.”
Before she could finish, Fiona stormed up to Hugh. “Do you even remember you have a wife?”
Hugh’s conflicted gaze drifted to Bethan, his voice firm.
“Of course I do.”
Bethan lowered her eyes, a bitter smirk tugging at her lips.

Even now, he could still say something like that.

Fiona raised her hand and slapped Hugh hard across the face.
Megan gasped, starting forward, but-Fiona’s glare stopped her cold.
