Chapter 178 Who Else Is Coming
Then Arthur turned to Bethan, shoving his face in front of hers. “Bethy, who’s better-looking, me or him?” he asked.
Bethan glanced at Hugh and gently pushed Arthur’s face away. “My taste is off today. I can’t answer that,” she said.
Mason gave Bethan an approving look. “You’ve got lousy taste and even worse eyesight. You’re like a woman who doesn’t know what’s good,” he joked.
With the three men bickering, Bethan felt like the situation was slipping out of her control.
Hugh walked up to Bethan. “Everyone’s here. Can we start?” he asked.
Just as Bethan was about to answer, the doorbell rang again.
Arthur looked at Bethan, confused. “Who else is coming?” he asked.

Mason cleared his throat, looking forward to the next act.

“Jemma, open the door,” he said.
Jemma rushed to open it, and in walked Megan, holding her son’s hand.
Hudson saw Hugh and ran towards him excitedly. “Daddy!” he called out.
The moment Hugh caught sight of Hudson clinging to his leg, calling out “Daddy,” his face darkened like a thundercloud.
He never expected Bethan to go so far as to bring Megan and her son into the house.
Arthur let out a sharp gasp at the sight of Hudson.
Like a startled monkey, he leaped behind Bethan and pointed at Hudson, blurting out, “Bethy, is this the ugly brat your husband had with that ugly woman?”
Bethan shot Arthur a warning look. “Mr. Locke, watch your mouth. My hubby’s son isn’t ugly.”
Mason couldn’t hold back a snort of laughter.

Megan bit her lip, shooting Arthur a fierce glare but staying silent.
She stole a nervous glance at Hugh’s face, then stepped forward and said, “Hugh, Mrs. Cavill invited us over. We’re not bothering you, are we?”
Hugh pushed Hudson away, a flash of coldness in his eyes as he looked at Megan.
He grabbed Bethan’s arm, pulled her aside, and hissed, “Bethan, what are you up to?”
Bethan cleared her throat. “You know them well enough. Why such a big reaction?”
Hugh fixed his eyes on Bethan. “So, this is the ‘surprise’ you talked about?”
Bethan nodded seriously. “Look, you’re always sneaking around to see them, afraid your grandpa will find out. Now I’ve adopted Hudson as my godson. Your son can call you daddy openly from now on; no need to be scared of others hearing.”
Bligh’s face turned ashen.

Disbelief filled his eyes as he said, “Bethan, do you know what you’re doing?”
Bethan tried to soothe him. “Hugh, don’t react like this. The kid’s called you daddy before. If anyone questions it, just say he’s my godson and pin it on me.”
Hugh snapped, “Bethan, I never wanted to give this kid any status, let alone make our relationship public!”
Bethan sighed.
She stood on tiptoe and whispered in his ear, “Relax. I had them move upstairs so it’s easier for you to meet. Even if you take care of them every day, it won’t be easy for others to notice.”
Hugh’s chest heaved with anger. He pushed Bethan away roughly.
Bethan glanced around, then stepped up to Hugh again and whispered, “Don’t worry. I’ll take the blame if anything goes wrong. You guys can be happy. I’ll be the bad guy.”

Hugh pushed her away again, his words gritted through his teeth. “Bethan, you’re really ‘generous’!”
Bethan smiled.
It was not that she was being generous.
She didn’t want him anymore.
Hugh was about to kick them out when Bethan said seriously, “Hugh, if I can’t even invite friends over, I’ll take them out for a meal.”
They stared at each other for a while. Bethan’s gaze was firm, while Hugh was fuming.
Arthur chimed in, “Bethy, are you two even a couple?”
Bethan and Hugh exchanged a look and fell silent.
Mason nudged Arthur and glanced at Megan and her son. “Mr. Cavill and those two are the real family.”
Hugh stood still, closing his eyes and taking a deep
breath.
