Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 185

Chapter 185 You’ve Got the Wrong Person

The next morning, Bethan got up on time, washed up, changed her clothes, and was all set to go out.

Seeing Hugh approaching with the gift, she dropped her gaze as if she hadn’t noticed.

Hugh held out the gift. “It’s for your promotion,” he said.

Bethan put down her bag and smiled, “Thanks.”

Hugh watched as Bethan placed the gift on the cabinet without even opening it.

His face twitched a little. “Aren’t you gonna open it and take a look?” he asked.

Bethan gave him a smile. “No, I like whatever you give

me.”

That same perfunctory smile.

Hugh’s face darkened right away.

Bethan finished packing and was about to leave.

She walked up to Hugh, stood on tiptoe, and was about to kiss him when she suddenly remembered the marital

agreement was over.

So, she let go of Hugh and turned away without hesitation.

Hugh stood there, stunned, his eyes fixed on Bethan’s retreating figure, with a mix of emotions.

So, now that the agreement was off, she didn’t even want to pretend anymore.

Around noon at the Mount Sinai Medical Center, Bethan was on her way to the cafeteria with her colleagues when she spotted Megan walking towards her from a distance.

She told her colleagues to go eat first and stopped.

Megan strode up to Bethan and held out the property deed.

“Mrs. Cavill, I’m giving the apartment back to you. Just Bick a time, and we’ll handle the transfer forma¶ties.17:40

Bethan didn’t take the deed right away. “Megan, let me give you some friendly advice. It’s smarter for a woman to be practical.”

Megan fidgeted, her eyes darting around.

Then she shoved the deed into Bethan’s hand. “Mrs. Cavill, it’s a hassle for me and the kid to keep moving. I’ll stay in that apartment for now and pay you the rent every month,” she insisted.

Seeing Megan was so set on it, Bethan took the deed.

“Megan, you accepted the house Hugh bought you, but won’t take my gift. Deep down, you just don’t trust me.” She pointed out.

Megan shot back firmly, “Mrs. Cavill, I’m not like you. You don’t have feelings for Hugh, so you only care about money. Hugh and I are truly in love, and we have a child. Our love can’t be bought.”

She added, a bit unconvincingly, “I know my coming back with the kid hurt you. But you can’t force love. Anyway, you and Hugh are still married, and your property is 3/7

shared. From now on, I won’t take a cent from either of you,”

Looking at Megan, Bethan couldn’t quite figure out her own feelings.

In terms of scheming, Megan was no match.

In terms of real capabilities, on the street, there were plenty of women like her. It’d be an uphill battle for her to become the real Mrs. Cavill.

Even if she and Hugh were really in love, it was really not a wise choice to suffer in silence just to maintain a certain

persona.

Bethan weighed the deed in her hand. “If you’re not in a rush, let’s grab a bite together. My treat,” she offered.

Megan nodded eagerly.

Just as they were about to leave, a sleek black Bentley pulled up at the hospital entrance.

Out stepped Hugh, striding towards them. The two 467nen exchanged a quick look.

Bethan felt a flutter of nerves.

Hugh should’ve been at the company. Why was he here?

Megan felt even guiltier.

Before Hugh could say a word, she blurted out, “Hugh, I came to return the property deed to your wife.”

Hugh glanced at the deed in Bethan’s hand and nodded slightly

He walked up to Bethan. “Done talking?” he asked.

“I was about to invite Ms. Ridley for lunch,” Bethan replied.

Hugh’s face clouded over. “I need to talk to you.”

Bethan lowered her eyes, trying to hide her feelings.

Arthur had promised Hugh wouldn’t find out.

His showing up at noon probably had nothing to do with

Then, she subtly signaled Megan.

Megan hesitated, then gathered her courage. “Hugh, am I not even good enough to have a meal with your wife?”

Hugh looked back and forth between them.

Though he looked annoyed, he didn’t push it.

Bethan seized the chance. “We’ve decided. Since you’re

here, join us.”
