Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 191

Chapter 191 She Couldn’t Stand

Gwen was convinced she hadn’t mistaken it. She questioned Bethan, “Why are you covering for her?”

Then, firmly, she added, “I clearly saw her trying to put something in Hugh’s drink. Let Hugh take out what he picked up, and we’ll know.”

Mason was the first to react. He pulled Gwen aside and whispered, “Come on, Megan is the mother of your brother’s son. Cut her some slack.”

Seeing that Gwen had finally been calmed down by Mason, Bethan secretly let out a sigh of relief.

Then, noticing Megan standing there motionless, she felt a wave of weariness.

She walked over and hinted to Megan, asking, “Didn’t you say you weren’t feeling well?”

Megan quickly nodded, taking the hint.

She timidly looked at Hugh and asked, “Hugh, I’m not feeling well. Can you take me home?”

Everyone could clearly see her obvious motive behind asking another woman’s husband to take her home.

But to everyone’s surprise, Hugh nodded in agreement.

He glanced at Bethan and said to Megan, “Let’s go. I’ll take you home.”

Gwen was about to explode, but Mason held her back, practically dragging her away.

Bethan watched Hugh and Megan leave the private room expressionlessly, her eyes showing no obvious emotion.

Before this, Hugh had even lied to her, saying he’d send Megan and her son away and be with her.

Now, right in front of everyone, he didn’t even bother to pretend.

She just hoped they’d keep at it and get together openly, so as not to waste her efforts.

Arthur patted Bethan on the shoulder and comforted her, saying, “Bethy, I’ll take you home later.”

Bethan smiled, nodding, “You drank four bottles of that milk drink from Ms. Ridley today. Don’t call her ugly

anymore.”

Arthur wrinkled his nose in disgust. “I got the milk from you. What does it have to do with that ugly woman?”

Bethan was speechless.

Well, Arthur was always like this, never feeling indebted, even when taking things from others.

Mason, afraid Bethan might feel bad, ended the gathering early.

He took Gwen, Bethan, and Arthur out for a late-night

snack.

Meanwhile, on a roadside near the Regal Club, a black Bentley pulled over at a temporary parking spot.

In the back seat, Megan was so nervous that she was sweating profusely.

Before Hugh could say anything, she started explaining, 3/7

“Hugh, I’m sorry. I should have told you about this earlier.”

Seeing Hugh’s gloomy face and his silence, Megan took out her phone and opened the chat with Bethan.

“These are the messages your wife sent me. The drug was also given to me by your wife. She threatened to drug you. She said if I didn’t listen, your grandpa would throw me on a deserted island!”

Hugh lowered the window halfway and lit a cigarette.

He leaned back on the headrest, half-closing his eyes and smoking in silence.

The more Hugh kept quiet, the more panicked Megan

became.

In a rush, Megan blurted out, “Hugh, I swear I never thought of spiking your drink. I just wanted to find the right moment to tell you about this.

“I’ve got no clue what your wife is up to. I was worried that if I told you, it’d mess up your relationship with her,

thought Gwen would see what I had in my hand and get the wrong idea.”

Hugh stuck his hand out of the window and flicked the ash off his cigarette.

Then he said, “I’ve got other stuff to do. Take a cab

home.”

Megan let out a sigh of relief and scurried out of the car.

It was almost dawn when Mason drove Gwen back.

Meanwhile, Arthur walked home with Bethan.

As the elevator doors slid open, Arthur said to Bethan, “If you two start fighting later, give me a call. I’ll have your back.”

Bethan rolled her eyes at him.

Since she met Hugh, the few times he’d lost his temper were all during arguments with his grandpa because of Megan.

Hugh never bothered to argue with her or lay a hand on her. He always gave her the silent treatment.

What was more, Arthur was so unreliable.

He promised he could hack into Hugh’s computer without getting caught, but the next day, Hugh questioned her about it.

The plan to drug Hugh was exposed tonight.

According to their earlier agreement, Megan would pin it
