Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 192

Chapter 192 Something Wasn’t Right

She took off her coat, put down her bag, and slipped into her slippers. As she walked in from the entrance, she immediately saw Hugh beside the coffee machine.

He was wearing a dark bathrobe, holding a water cup, and staring right at her.

Bethan couldn’t help frowning.

It had been four or five hours since they left the club. Had he and Megan finished whatever they were doing?

They glanced at each other, but neither of them said a word.

Bethan calmly walked over to the water bar.

Just as she was about to grab a glass to pour some water, Hugh picked up a cup first and filled it halfway for her.

Bethan took the cup and noticed out of the corner of her qye that Hugh’s lips were slightly pressed.

She hesitated for a moment and put the cup down

nervously.

Lucky Draw

The drug she’d secretly gotten was the latest on the

market.

It was really strong and had no antidote.

Of all the places, Megan had to drop it at Hugh’s feet, and he picked it up.

Hugh might seem like a gentleman, but he was actually a

smart businessman.

He was full of tricks and could be ruthless.

It was quite possible he’d use this chance to get back at

her.

While watching Hugh’s expression, Bethan took another glass from the cabinet.

She rinsed it with hot water three times before filling it with water.

Just as Bethan was about to take a sip, Hugh gave her 43

long look and slowly put down his own cup.

Bethan was confused by his reaction.

Logically, Megan had shifted all the blame onto her.

But since she got home, Hugh hadn’t said a word and even poured water for her.

Something wasn’t right.

Bethan fought back her thirst and carefully put the cup down again.

Bethan fought back her thirst and made her way to the shower. Hugh didn’t stop her.

After emerging from the bathroom, she noticed the light was on in Hugh’s study.

Walking over to the water bar, Bethan eyed the water dispenser. She hesitated for a moment but decided not to

take the chance.

Neither she nor Hugh was a fan of drinks. Inside the fridge, aside from milk and yogurt, there was nothing1 7:44

else.

Bethan picked up an unopened carton of milk. Just as she unscrewed the cap and was about to take a sip, she heard footsteps behind her and stopped.

Meeting Hugh’s eyes; Bethan thought for a second and then screwed the cap back on, not daring to drink.

She took a glance at Hugh, sent a message to Arthur, and waited by the door.

Before long, Arthur showed up with two bottles of water.

Bethan let out a sigh of relief and chugged nearly half of one bottle.

Late at night, they lay in the same big bed.

Listening to Hugh’s steady breathing beside her, Bethan lay still, but sleep wouldn’t come.

She’d tried to get Megan to drug Hugh in front of all his friends, and it had been a bust.

Hugh hadn’t said a word about it, not even a single question.

Bethan kept going over it in her mind. Something just didn’t feel right.

Early the next morning, Bethan got up, freshened up, and got ready for work.

At the door, Jemma reminded them, “Mr. Cavill, Mrs. Cavill, breakfast is ready.”

Seeing Hugh lingering in the cloakroom, Bethan headed to the dining room by herself.

After sipping half a bowl of soup, Bethan was about to

leave for work.

As she stepped out of the dining room, Hugh grabbed her

wrist.

He said to Jemma, “Jemma, you can go home first.”

Jemma took off her apron and left.

“What do you want to say? Save it. I’m gonna be late for

work.”

Hugh stared intently at Bethan’s expression and said calmly, “I’ve taken a day off for you.”
