Chapter 196 Pick Up My Honey
Left with no choice, she accepted the folder, flipped through a few pages, and saw they were all records of Hugh’s personal assets. After skimming them, she closed the folder, put it back in the envelope, and returned it to him.
Hugh set down the folder and took Bethan’s hand. “This is everything I own. The contracts are already drawn up. As long as you sign, all of it will be transferred to your
name.”
Bethan had no idea what trick he was trying to pull again, but she knew she would never accept it. After all, even if she took it, she would never be able to hold onto that
kind of wealth.
All she wanted now was a clean break from Hugh, without any financial entanglements.
Bethan said calmly, “Hugh, I’ve learned firsthand how ruthless you can be. Even if I signed the papers and the assets were handed over to me, if you wanted them back, you’d have plenty of ways to make it happen.

“Speak plainly. Don’t waste my time circling around.”
Staring intently at Bethan, Hugh said, “I promised you I wouldn’t threaten you again, and I meant it. I’ll stand by my word.”
Bethan pushed his hand away and stood up. “I have work tomorrow. I’m going to rest.”
As she tried to walk away, Hugh stepped in front of her, scowling. “Bethan, is arguing and business all we’ve got left? Can’t we just talk like normal people for once?”
Bethan shot back, “Then what, huh? You want us to talk about feelings? Do you even have any to talk about?”
Her question hung in the air as the two of them stared at each other. Hugh’s expression gradually sank. Holding back, he shifted the subject. “Make some time next week. We’ll go back to Cavill Manor for a meal together.”
Bethan yanked her hand free. “I’m hosting a team of foreign specialists at the hospital next week. I won’t have the time.”
With that, she turned and went back to the bedroom.17:46

Hugh remained in the living room, watching her frail figure retreat, his frown deepening. At this point, it didn’t matter what he said or did-she refused to believe him.
In the past, even after arguments, Bethan would still make an effort to brush him off. But ever since that marriage agreement had been voided, she couldn’t even be bothered to do that.

Over the next few days, Bethan left early and returned late, barely eating a single meal at home.
One evening, Mason and Arthur came over to freeload for dinner. As usual, it was Hugh alone at the table, two grown men taking up opposite sides as if they owned the place.
Mason shoveled food into his mouth while asking, “How come the 18th floor seems kinda empty today?”
Arthur chimed in, “That ugly thing finally moved out?”
Hugh found the sight of the two men unbearable. With a 3/6

cold face, he said, “Out of seven days, you eat here five. Don’t you think that’s enough?”
Mason shot him a glance. “As long as you two aren’t
divorced, half of this home belongs to Bethan. I’m eating what’s hers, not yours.”
Arthur chimed in, “Exactly. Bethy doesn’t mind, so why should you?”
Mason gave Hugh a taunting look. “Keep glaring at us, and we’ll just stay the night.”
Arthur slapped his thigh with a laugh. “That’s right. We’ll stay next door and have Bethy get the room ready.”
Hugh looked at the two of them, momentarily at a loss for
words.

On Friday afternoon, Hugh returned to Cavill Manor alone.
That evening, Gwen turned on the television in A&tement. “Oh, Bethan is on TV.”

On screen, Bethan wore light makeup and a white coat as she accompanied a panel of experts on a hospital tour.
Fiona couldn’t help praising her, “Bethy has always been smart. Whatever she puts her mind to, she’ll make it.”
Watching his family beam with admiration for Bethan, Hugh felt a tangle of emotions rise within him.
It hit him then that the carefree girl who once teased him to take care of her for life had grown up. She not only kept secrets from him now, but also shone brilliantly in the field in which she excelled.
On the screen, Bethan appeared radiant, poised, and brimming with confidence. Hugh’s gaze lingered on her, stirred by a wave of feeling he couldn’t push away.

As the workday ended, Bethan walked out of the staff exit with her colleagues, only to see Hugh waiting for her.
