Chapter 197 Mr. Keating

Hugh caught her hand. “I’ll drive you.”

He knew for certain that if Tristen had agreed and sent out two attending physicians together, the patient’s condition had to be serious, and their status must be anything but ordinary.

Just as Bethan was about to refuse, Tristen walked up to her and Hugh.

After exchanging a quick hello with Hugh, Tristen told him, “Why don’t you join us, Mr. Cavill? There’s a chance you’ll recognize that patient as well.”

Hugh gave Bethan a brief look before replying, “Fine.”

With the two men agreeing so quickly, she couldn’t really object anymore.

Both cars drove toward the western side of town, and

after more than an hour, they rolled into the driveway of a private villa.

Bethan sat in the passenger seat, noticing Hugh’s

expression growing more and more tense. She hesitated before asking, “You know who lives here, don’t you?”

Since he said nothing, Bethan reached for the door to step out, but he abruptly unfastened his belt and caught her by the wrist.

Looking back, she noticed the conflict written across Hugh’s face. Before he could say anything, she told him, “You promised not to interfere with my work.”

Hugh’s face shadowed at her reminder, and he loosened his grip.

Soon after, a butler respectfully led them into the living room, where an elderly man with graying hair came forward on a cane.

Tristen stepped up and greeted Andy Keating, the head of the Keating family, and then introduced Bethan and the other doctor, Darnley Moran, to him.

Andy nodded faintly, but when his eyes landed on Hugh, they turned cold. He barked, “We don’t welcome anyone from the Cavill family. Show him out!”

Unfazed, Hugh held Bethan’s hand and replied calmly, “If the Cavill name isn’t welcome here, then we’ll be on our way, Sir Keating.”

Bethan looked up at him and saw how dark his expression had become. She realized then that he not only knew this family but also had a grudge against them. It also dawned on her that when he grabbed her in the car, he had been trying to stop her.

Noticing the standoff, Tristen quickly stepped in. “We can handle this calmly, Mr. Cavill.” He held Hugh back and went over to Andy, murmuring something quietly.

Andy’s expression shifted a few times before settling back into calm. He said, “The rest of you may go up. Hugh, you

stay put.”

Bethan stayed rooted in place, her gaze flicking back and forth between Andy, Tristen, and Hugh.

She realized Hugh had already known who she was here to treat before he even got out of the car, yet he had kept it to himself.

Béthan also realized, judging from Tristen’s reaction, that

he had known about Hugh’s history with this family all along. That was why he’d brought Hugh along, while she had been kept in the dark.

Hugh turned to her and said, “Be careful up there. I’ll wait for you downstairs.”

Bethan gave a slight nod and followed Tristen and Darnley upstairs.

On the way up to the second floor, they noticed that the hallway was lined with servants and guards, while cameras watched every angle without leaving a gap.

The farther Bethan walked toward the end of the

corridor, the more suffocated she felt.

What kind of house is this? It’s more like a jail.

Thinking back to Hugh’s reminder, Bethan felt her nerves tighten.

She gave Tristen’s sleeve a small pull and asked in a low voice, “Tristen, what’s with all the cameras?”

fristen paused, leaned closer, and replied quietly, “You’fe

only here to treat the patient. Don’t stick your nose in other matters.”

Looking at his grim face, Bethan felt her nerves spike further.

When they reached the master bedroom, they paused. The butler gave a gentle knock, and a young man emerged from inside.

In a low voice, the butler said, “Isaac, the doctors have arrived. Is it all right for them to see Mr. Keating now?”

The young man, Isaac, seemed barely past twenty, medium in build, his clean, baby-like face breaking into a bashful smile.

He replied, “Mr. Keating seemed to be holding himself together. You may go in and see him.”

Bethan exchanged a glance with Tristen, then gathered her courage and stepped inside.
