Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 234

Chapter 234 Beautiful and Romantic

Megan stood, watching her walk away, her pulse racing.

She could hardly stop herself from screaming out loud.

Fiona let them stay in an apartment in the city, and now her son would be sent to a prestigious school.

People said grandparents always spoiled the next generation. Clearly, Fiona was no exception.

With Fiona on her side, it was only a matter of time before she and Hugh were truly together.

After parting with Megan, Fiona went straight to the Cavill Group.

Hugh emerged from the conference room in a dark tailored suit, surrounded by a crowd of executives.

His commanding presence and imposing height made him impossible to miss, each stride clipped and confident, while the shorter men behind him practically jogged to keep up.

The group stopped when they saw Fiona, greeting her respectfully, “Mrs. Fiona Cavill.”

Only Hugh’s expression shifted, darkening the moment hist gaze landed on her.

As the others dispersed, he said flatly, “Mom. What are you doing here?”

Fiona wasted no time. “Megan’s old apartment is no longer suitable. I’ve arranged for her to move into the city, so it’ll be easier for you to look after them.”

At the mention of Megan, Hugh’s expression grew even colder.

He said, “Whatever it is, let’s talk in my office.”

Fiona pointed toward the conference room behind Hugh. “No, I’ll just say a few words and leave.”

Hugh gave Jacob a look, then followed Fiona inside.

Jacob closed the door and waited outside.

Hugh poured a glass of water and handed it to her. “Mom, how many times do I have to tell you? Stay out of my business.”

Fiona slammed the glass down hard. “Your affair doesn’t just tarnish you. It drags the entire Cavill family through the mud. You think this is only your problem?”

The same argument came again. Hugh fell silent.

Fiona pressed, leaving no room for retreat. “You chose to recognize that woman and her child. If you’re going to do that, then take responsibility. She’s at her lowest right now. Go stay with them for a few days. Be there for them.”

Hugh felt the futility of explaining. He forced himself to keep calm. “Mom, would it really make you happy to see me divorce Bethan?”

Fiona let out a sharp huff. “You know better than anyone whether Bethan still wants to be with you.”

Hugh braced both hands against the edge of the table, shoulders heavy.

After a long silence, he said quietly, “Mom, I know you’ve watched Bethan grow up. You can’t stand to see her suffer.

“But I’m your son too. I told you-I don’t want a divorce. I’m trying to mend things with her. Can’t you stop forcing me?”

“Hudson is your flesh and blood,” Fiona shot back. “He’s part of this family. You have a duty to that child and his mother.”

Her tone hardened further. “You’re going to spend the night with

them. If you don’t, then tomorrow I’ll bring Hudson 19:53 376. straight into Cavill Manor. He’ll be recognized as one of us-

with or without his mother.”

Her ultimatum hung in the air as she swept out.

When she was gone, Hugh collapsed into his chair, drained.

He’d only acknowledged Hudson to keep Harvey at bay, to stop Megan from being pushed too far.

Hudson wasn’t his. And he couldn’t let Fiona parade that child into the Cavill family as an heir.

He sat there in silence for minutes, chest tight.

Finally, he exhaled and called Bethan.

“I’ve got a business dinner tonight,” he lied smoothly. “I’ll be home late.” Bethan only gave a flat “Mm” before ending the

call.

That evening, a few coworkers dragged Bethan out to try a trendy new restaurant.

By the time she left, it was past eight and a light drizzle had begun to fall.

She watched her colleagues wave goodbye, then pulled her coat tighter and walked alone down the quiet sidewalk.

Her gaze landed on a figure up ahead and froze.

She stopped in her tracks.

There, under the streetlamp haze, Hugh stood in his immaculate suit. And Megan, in pajamas and slippers, collapsed into his arms, sobbing.
