Besides, he hadn’t actually betrayed Bethan-Hudson wasn’t even his.
Once he and Bethan had a baby of their own, she’d drop this whole divorce nonsense. She’d remember what they meant to each other and settle down to build the life they were supposed to have.
The next morning, Melissa showed up at the hospital to see Bethan.
The moment Bethan spotted her, she lit up and pulled Melissa into a tight hug. “Aunt Melissa! I’m so sorry I didn’t come see you yesterday-that was awful of me.”
Melissa’s heart ached seeing Bethan like this. She patted Bethan’s shoulder gently. “I know what happened between you and Hugh, sweetheart. I don’t blame you for any of it.
“I brought gifts for you and your parents and your brother,” Melissa continued. “When you get a chance, take them to your mom and tell her I said hello.”
After they chatted for a while, Melissa got ready to leave. Bethan walked her out of the medical building, being her usual sweet self. That’s when they ran into Megan, who was there0:00 with her kid to pick up some medication.

Six years ago, when Megan was dating Hugh, she’d done her homework on the Cavill family. She’d dug up everything she could find about them.
She knew exactly who Melissa was, but Melissa had no clue who she was.
Megan crouched down and whispered something in Hudson’s ear. The little boy took off running straight toward Bethan and Melissa.
“Ms. Olsen,” Hudson called out to Bethan first.
Then he turned to Melissa. “Grandma Melissa.”
Melissa stared at the little boy in front of her, then shot a confused look at Bethan.
Bethan jumped in to explain. “Aunt Melissa, this is Hugh’s son.”
When Megan saw what was happening, she rushed over. “Aunt Melissa,” she called out.
Melissa immediately figured out who Megan was, and her expression went ice-cold. “You know me?”
Megan scrambled to explain herself, clearly feeling guilty. 20:00

“Hugh talks about you all the time. I’ve seen your photos on his phone. You have such a distinguished look, Aunt Melissa- you’re really easy to recognize.”
Melissa’s face got even more serious. “Ms. Ridley, I’d appreciate it if you didn’t try to claim family connections that don’t exist. You might know who I am, but I certainly don’t know you.”
After she said that, Melissa exchanged a few quick words with Bethan and walked away.
Megan stood there feeling completely humiliated, her hands. clenched into tight fists.
She shot Bethan a nasty glare. “Did you say something to Aunt Melissa about me? Have you been talking behind my back?”
Bethan glanced at Megan, then turned and walked away.
Everyone knew Melissa’s story-back in her younger days, she’d been the golden girl of high society, brilliant and beautiful.
But when her family tried to lock her into some arranged marriage with a total scumbag, she decided to blow up her own life rather than live it. She found herself a random guy, got gregnant, and kept it secret.

Then came her wedding day. She walked into the ceremony carrying a baby that definitely wasn’t her fiancé’s, and right there in front of everyone, she dropped a bombshell video of her soon-to-be husband cheating with half the city. The whole thing went up in flames. It was legendary.
After she successfully nuked that engagement, it took the baby’s father-who happened to be some big-shot CEO-six whole years of chasing her before she finally said yes.
Once they married, Melissa had four kids in three years, and her husband’s entire family wrapped around her little finger.
The woman was a force of nature. Anyone stupid enough to try playing games with her was just asking to get their ass handed to them.
That evening, Bethan went back to her parents’ house. She gave the gifts Melissa had sent for her family and stayed the night.
Hugh had enough sense not to bother her.
Five days passed in a blur, when Bethan finished her shift at the hospital, she spotted Hugh waiting by her car.
He walked toward her, watching her face like he was testing
the waters.
