Chapter 310 You Don’t Love Her
“Hugh!”
Bethan tossed her umbrella aside and banged frantically on the locked car door.
Ever since Megan landed in prison, Hugh’s mood had been all over the place. He used to stay calm even if the world was ending, but now he blew up over nothing.
What a mess.
If she’d known it’d come to this, she never would’ve agreed to let him hypnotize Megan. Should’ve just let him play happy families with that murderer.
“What a psycho!”
Arthur suddenly stumbled out of the other car door.
Bethan raced around the vehicle to help him up. “Let me check, where’d you get hurt?”
Arthur pulled a tiny mirror out of his pocket and fixed his haiy. “Bethan, he ruined my sunscreen and prin

Bethan was lost for words.
Arthur clutched his chest dramatically and grabbed her hand. “Bethan, he tried to kill me!”
The sound of a car door opening behind them made. Bethan spin around.
Hugh straightened his tie and strode over.
“He didn’t do anything to you,” Bethan said sharply. “What right do you have to hit him?”
Hugh’s dark eyes locked on hers. “He fought back. Call it mutual combat.”
Arthur nearly jumped out of his skin. “You expected me not to fight back? I’m not your punching bag!”
Scared they’d start brawling again, Bethan grabbed Arthur and started walking away.
Hugh took an umbrella from his driver and held it over Bethan’s head. “It’s pouring harder. Let me walk you to
your car.”

Arthur scoffed and shrugged off his jacket, holding it over Bethan instead.
Hugh stood frozen in the rain, watching Bethan lean close to Arthur as they ran to their car together.
Not far away, another luxury car pulled up slowly.
Logan stepped out and approached Hugh. “Mr. Cavill, Sir Cavill wants you back at Cavill Manor right away.”
Hugh looked away calmly and slid into his car.
In Arthur’s sports car, Bethan asked again, worried. “You’re really not hurt?”
Arthur grinned mischievously. “I know he’s a good fighter, so I didn’t actually fight back. Just clung to him.”
Bethan finally relaxed.
She warned Arthur, “This is New York, it’s his turf. Even the heads of the eight prominent families have to treat him with respect. Fight if you can win, run if you can’t. Don’t go head-to-head with him.”

Arthur grumbled. “I’m just ticked off. Why does he get to hurt you, divorce you, and then hang around like nothing happened?”
Bethan sighed helplessly. “Because he’s scum.”

Over an hour later, at Cavill Manor.
Hugh walked into the living room and instantly felt suffocated.
Harvey sat in the main chair, scowling. Ryan’s face was twisted with anger, Fiona’s brows were furrowed, and Gwen’s eyes were red with held-back tears.
Hugh took a deep breath and stepped forward.
“So now you think you’re too good for us?” Harvey said coldly. “Can’t even bother showing up when we call?”
“Grandpa, what’s so urgent you had to summon me this late?” Hugh asked flatly.

Harvey nodded at Ryan.
“We’re here to talk about you and Gwen’s future,” Ryan said,
Before Ryan could finish, Hugh cut him off. “Dad, Gwen and I will decide our own marriage.”
Ryan pointed a finger at Hugh. “You’ve been selfish enough! Wasted years of your life on that woman Bethan, only to end up divorced and humiliated.
“We’ll let the past slide. But this time, you don’t get a choice!”
Fiona tried to reason with him. “Hugh, since you and Bethan are divorced, you both need to move on.”
Hugh stood stone-faced in the middle of the room. “I have my own plans. Don’t force me!”
Harvey’s expression darkened. “If you hadn’t insisted on marrying her, you’d be married to the Potter girl with a bunch of kids by now.”
The sudden mention made Hugh frown.

“I had someone feel out the Potters,” Harvey went on. “After you turned down their proposal, their daughter focused on her career and never got married. She’s always had a thing for you, heard she doesn’t care that you’re divorced.”
“Grandpa, I said, don’t force me!” Hugh snapped.
Harvey’s voice was final. “I’ve already talked to the Potter elders. We’ll pick a good date soon for you two to get engaged.”
Hugh’s chest tightened.
“Grandpa, I’m not getting engaged!”
With that, Hugh turned and left.
Behind him, Ryan’s shouts mixed with the sound of cups shattering. Hugh didn’t look back.
Now he got why Bethan hated coming to Cavill Manor so much, and why she hated this family.
