Arthur rubbed his sore back and complained. “Why’d he only go after me? You got off scot-free!”

Barry tried to smooth things over. “Arthur, don’t be

The two shut up fast when they saw Hugh and Bethan walk out of the room.

Elsie noticed Henry hugging Barry and calling him “uncle.” Too scared to stir up trouble herself, she whispered to her two friends.

One of them spoke up. “Why’s Mr. Byron’s son calling Dr. Olsen’s brother ‘uncle’? Are Dr. Olsen and Mr. Byron about to announce something?”

Elsie’s other friend turned to Bethan, pretending to be curious. “Dr. Olsen, you just divorced Mr. Cavill. You moving on that fast?”

Gwen started to step forward, but Mason pulled her back.

Calvin frowned and moved to Bethan’s side, ready to speak, but Bethan stopped him.
