Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 314

Chapter 314 Just Ignore It

After Philbert’s introduction, Alina’s gaze landed on

Bethan.

A flicker of admiration crossed her eyes. “Mr. Dixon, who’s this lovely lady?”

Bethan smiled politely. “Hello, Ms. Potter. I’m Bethan Olsen.”

Their eyes met. Both calm, neither backing down.

Bethan glanced away first, lowering her gaze slightly.

She knew full well Alina already knew who she was.

Hugh’s focus stayed glued to Bethan, not missing a single one of her reactions.

Bethan took Henry’s hand and said to the group, “You all keep chatting. I’ll take the little guy to grab some snacks.”

As she turned to leave with Henry, a server carrying a tray of drinks walked by.

The tray was about to collide with Bethan when Calvin acted on instinct. He wrapped an arm around her waist, spun her gently, and shielded her with his body.

Once Bethan steadied herself, she realized Calvin was holding her in an intimate embrace.

Hugh froze.

He’d reacted first, but he was too far away. Calvin had been right beside her-close enough to reach out and help.

Watching Bethan safe in another man’s arms, Hugh’s eyes narrowed, his hands curling into tight fists at his sides.

Everyone saw the scene, their expressions shifting as they glanced at Hugh.

Calvin let go of Bethan and apologized. “Sorry, Dr. Olsen. I acted on impulse. I overstepped.”

Bethan didn’t mind at all. “I should be thanking you, Mr. Byron.”

Their exchange was polite, but their interaction felt natural. Easy, even.

Alina watched Bethan leave with Calvin, then strolled over to Hugh. “Mr. Cavill, your ex-wife is quite the catch.”

Hugh stared at the floor, hiding his emotions.

He didn’t even look at Alina; he just walked away.

Alina watched his retreating back and smiled.

While Bethan and Calvin chatted, Tristen, Mason, Gwen, and Gloria joined them.

Gloria leaned in, excited. “Bethan, do you have Arthur’s

address?”

Address?

Bethan glanced at Tristen, confused.

Tristen shook his head, amused. “This girl’s always been bold. Give her an inch, and she’ll take a mile. Don’t spoil her.”

Bethan laughed.

She turned to Gloria. “I can’t give you his address without his permission, but I can invite you to my place sometime.”

Gloria squeezed Bethan’s arm, grinning. “Bethan, you have to keep your word!”

Watching Gloria leave with her friends, Bethan felt a twinge of envy.

Eighteen-young, passionate, fearless to love and hate.

If the Olsen family hadn’t gone bankrupt back then… if she’d had brothers to protect her too… She never would’ve let Hugh hurt her so badly.

After Gloria left. Mason teased Gwen. “Look at her, so young and already chasing after handsome guys. But

you?”

Gwen frowned. “What about me?”

Mason sighed. “You’re like a block of wood, totally qblivious.”

Gwen was lost for words.

She’d always been sharp and quick-witted; this was the first time anyone had called her clueless.

As the group chatted, Bethan headed upstairs to the

restroom.

When she walked out, she ran into Alina.

They nodded politely to each other, and Bethan started to leave.

Alina adjusted her bob in the mirror and called out. “Dr. Olsen, mind if we talk?”

Bethan stopped and turned. “Ms. Potter, we barely know

each other.”

Alina walked over. “No better time to change that.”

Her tone was warm and polite, but there was an undercurrent of insistence that felt off.

“Let me properly introduce myself,” Alina said. “I’m the

CEO of Potter Group. And I’m someone who might get engaged to Mr. Cavill.”

She used “might.” Careful, deliberate.

Bethan offered a calm congratulations.

Alina raised an eyebrow. “Aren’t you curious?”

Bethan shook her head.

Alina smiled. “No wonder Mr. Cavill insisted on marrying you. You really are something.”

Bethan corrected her. “Ms. Potter, you’re mistaken. Mr. Cavill’s marriage to me had nothing to do with feelings.”

Alina didn’t look surprised.

She didn’t beat around the bush either. She admitted her

interest in Hugh right to Bethan’s face.

“Mr. Cavill is handsome, well-connected, smart, and capable. He’s exactly what I’m looking for in a partner,”

Alina said.

Looking at Alina, Bethan couldn’t help but think she and Hugh were a perfect match.

If Hugh hadn’t been blinded by that whole “savior” and “first love” thing with Megan, Megan never would’ve lasted that long.

Seeing Bethan stay quiet, Alina continued. “Dr. Olsen, don’t look at me like that. Maybe I’m a few years older, so we see marriage differently.

“For people like us, marriage is about mutual benefit,” she said. “As long as the marriage is stable, I don’t care if he has other women on the side.”

Bethan admired her, genuinely.

If she’d had that mindset back then, she never would’ve ended up so broken.

After a long pause, Bethan said, “Ms. Potter, I hope you get what you want.”

Alina watched Bethan walk away, her back straight and determined. Then her smile faded, her expression turning
