Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 340

Chapter 340 You’re Such a Fake

Lucky Draw

Lying in bed with her back to Hugh, Bethan remained silent, offering no response.

Hugh’s breathing gradually grew heavier. Suddenly, he leaned over, scooped Bethan up around the waist, and pulled her forcefully to his side, holding her in his arms.

Sitting on the edge of the bed, Hugh pinned Bethan’s body with one hand and brought the soup to her lips with the other, trying to feed her.

But Bethan clamped her mouth shut and struggled wildly.

The bowl slipped from Hugh’s hand, spilling soup all over them. It crashed to the floor, shattering with a sharp noise.

“Damn it, Hugh! I’d rather starve than eat a thing you make!”

Bethan turned around, her eyes filled with determination as she awaited Hugh’s outburst.

Helpless in the face of Bethan’s resistance, Hugh felt his heart breaking.

With great effort, he controlled himself and said softly, “Okay, forget it. Let’s go to the bathroom and get cleaned up.”

Without waiting for a reply, he picked her up and headed towards the bathroom.

Once inside, he put Bethan down and asked, “You gonna wash up by yourself, or do you want me to help?”

Bethan could sense Hugh’s self-restraint, yet she chose to ignore

She knew her parents would worry if she didn’t go home for a few days, but it wouldn’t affect her job much.

However, Hugh carried the weight of the entire Cavill Group on his shoulders.

Even if he didn’t care about his family’s concerns, he couldn’t afford to waste time here with her.

“I can handle it myself,” she said, pushing Hugh towards the door.

Hugh warned, “You’ve got half an hour. If you’re not out by then, I’m busting the door down.

With that, Bethan locked the door from the inside.

Hugh stood outside, setting a timer on his phone.

Half an hour later, Bethan finished her shower, changed into her PJs, dried her hair, and then sat quietly on the toilet, waiting for Hugh to break in.

“Bethy?” Hugh’s knock came on the door.

There was no answer.

“Bethan, you done in there?” he asked worriedly, but still, there was silence.

The knocking soon turned into ramming.

Bethan sat still, unmoved.

Finally, the door flew open.

Hugh, annoyed, demanded, “Why didn’t you answer me?”

Bethan gave him a cold look from head to toe and then walked out without a word.

Overwhelmed by Bethan’s coldness, Hugh felt both helpless and frustrated.

In an instant, he lunged forward, wrapping his arms tightly around her from behind.

“Sorry, Bethy. I was just out of my mind with worry. Didn’t mean to snap at you,” he murmured, his voice soft and apologetic.

Breaking free from his embrace, Bethan spun around, her eyes

filled with disdain.

“You’re such a fake, Hugh!” Bethan spat, then turned on her heel and strode out of the bathroom.

Stumbling a few steps, Hugh barely managed to steady himself against the door.

As he gazed blankly towards the bedroom, a wave of weakness washed over him. Slowly, he shuffled over to the bathroom and took a seat where Bethan had been moments before.

A cigarette and a lighter were fished out of his pocket. The lighter made several clicking sounds, but the cigarette remained unlit.

For a long while after that, Hugh stayed holed up in the bathroom.

Meanwhile, Bethan lay quietly in bed.

Wide-awake but disinclined to do anything, she just stared at the ceiling.

Earlier that night, before going to bed, Hugh had placed a mug of warm milk on Bethan’s nightstand.

“I didn’t make this milk. Can you have it now?” he asked, trying to sound casual.

Half-reclined against the headboard, Bethan closed the

magazine in her hand. “I think anything you touch is filthy,” she retorted coldly.

Hardly had her words faded when Hugh pounced on her, pinning her down on the bed.
