Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 345

Chapter 345 Terrible Death

Lucky Draw

As Bethan’s figure disappeared from the terrace, Hugh’s body slid down uncontrollably, collapsing against the railing.

His empty eyes stared unfocused at the endless night sky, his face twisted in pain as he closed his eyes, letting tears roll down his cheeks freely.

The girl who’d once loved him more than anything-she’d never come back.

A dull ache deep in his chest spread to every part of his body, so unbearable that Hugh curled into a ball, pounding his fist against his chest repeatedly, as if trying to ease the agony.

The cold island wind slowly congealed the bloodstains on the floor, rousing Hugh from his pain-induced faint.

He looked around dazedly, realizing he was still lying where he’d fallen.

Eyes bloodshot with rage and sorrow, Hugh stared toward the bedroom, his lips trembling violently.

Struggling to his feet, he leaned against the railing to steady himself, taking long moments to catch his breath before heading

inside.

At the bedroom door, he paused-half-open, the room still lit by a soft lamp.

Bethan sat on the bed, wrapped tightly in the quilt, hugging

herself, lost in a daze-small, fragile, and utterly helpless.

Hugh’s heart ached, and he lifted his leg to step in, but froze the moment his hand touched the doorknob.

Glancing down at the bloodstains on his white shirt, Hugh slowly pulled his hand away.

Bethan had a clean obsession-she’d only be disgusted by how dirty he was.

Turning around, he leaned against the wall outside the bedroom, his hands hanging at his sides, trembling from how tightly he clenched his fists.

He and Bethan-they’d never go back.

The pain was too much to bear; he bit down hard on the back of his hand to muffle the sound of his sobs, refusing to let her hear

his weakness.

Just then, footsteps from the stairs caught his ear. Hugh turned to face the wall, hiding his disheveled state from anyone who might see.

Jacob’s voice came, low and cautious. “Mr. Cavill, it’s time for your medicine.”

Leaning forward, his forehead pressed against the cool wall, Hugh fell into a long, painful silence.

Finally, he spoke, his voice hoarse, “File for a flight route. We’re leaving tomorrow morning.”

Jacob, fearing Hugh might change his mind, nodded eagerly and hurried down the stairs, almost running.

Neither Bethan nor Hugh slept much that night-their minds too full of broken memories and unspoken sorrow.

The next morning, as Bethan walked downstairs, she found Hugh in the kitchen, preparing breakfast.

She paused on the stairs for a split second, then turned to head back up.

Hugh stepped forward, blocking her path.

Their eyes met, and Bethan frowned involuntarily.

In just one night, he’d changed drastically-his eyes swollen, bloodshot with red veins, his face pale and sallow, haggard to the point of looking terrifying.

Hugh opened his mouth, his voice raw and gravelly,

He spoke with extreme humility, barely able to get the words out, “Jacob made the breakfast. You can eat it.”

A heavy weight settled in Bethan’s chest, but she pushed him

aside and continued up the stairs

Hugh grabbed her arm, his grip gentle but firm, his voice strained. “Eat first… then I’ll take you home.”

Bethan spun around, her eyes filled with disbelief as she looked him up and down.

“Are you telling the truth?”

She stood on the stairs, he on the floor below-their eyes level, only a few feet apart.

Hugh took a small, careful step closer, tentatively taking her hands in his, his gaze locked on hers.

“I said I’d never lie to you again.”

Fighting to keep his emotions in check, he spoke softly, “I know I look ugly, clinging to you like this—I know it annoys you.

“I really do know I was wrong. Not just saying it to placate you, not just possessiveness. I just want to take you home… want you back with me.

“Maybe I’m being too hasty. I don’t know what to do to earn your forgiveness, but I swear-I want to grow old with you.”

Bethan grew impatient, pulling her hands away. “No matter how pretty your words are, Hugh, I won’t believe you. If you really think you owe me, then disappear from my life completely.”

They stared at each other, inches apart.

The coldness and distance in her eyes made Hugh’s heart feel like it was being torn apart.

He forced himself to stand his ground, not looking away, his eyes bloodshot and filled with agony. “If that’s what you want, I’ll respect your choice. I’ll set you free,” he said, each word heavy with pain.

Bethan stared at him, still unable to believe it.

Her voice was firm, unwavering. “Hugh, swear to me. Swear you’ll never disturb my family or me again, swear you’ll never hurt anyone close to me, swear you’ll never come near me for the rest of your life.”
