Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 347

Chapter 347 We Were So Stupid

Lucky Draw

Bethan said, a hint of sarcasm in her voice, “Sir Cavill, I’m just wondering, what would happen to the Cavill Group’s stock price if the news got out that your beloved grandson here was flouting the law and holding his ex-wife captive?”

Harvey’s face turned an unflattering shade of red, his features contorted in a mix of shock and fury. Words failed him as he struggled to come to terms with Bethan’s bold statement.

Bethan then shifted her focus to Ryan, her eyes blazing with determination. “Mr. Ryan Cavill, I hope you won’t be accusing me of trying to seduce your son and snagging a piece of the Cavill family fortune through remarriage anymore. Fair enough?”

Ryan’s jaw tightened, and he shot Bethan a venomous glare, but he knew Hugh was in the wrong and couldn’t find the words to defend himself.

Unable to contain her anger any longer, Miranda pointed an accusing finger at Hugh. “We were so stupid back then! Agreeing to let Bethy marry a lowlife like you. What were we thinking?”

Hugh stood there, his head bowed, looking like a broken man. The weight of his mistakes seemed to press down on him.

Slowly, he shuffled over to Miranda and Vincent. With a heavy heart, he mumbled, “I’m so sorry!””

Vincent, still seething, gave Hugh a hard shove. Hugh stumbled backward, barely keeping his balance.

“Listen, if you’ve got an ounce of decency left in you, stay away from Bethy for good. Don’t you dare to cross her path again,” Vincent growled.

Fiona, seeing the chaos unfold, quickly stepped in. “It’s our family’s fault. I didn’t raise my son right. I’m truly sorry for what he’s done to Bethy.”

Mason, sensing it was time to defuse the situation, motioned to Gwen and said gently, “Bethan, why don’t I take you and your parents back to rest? You’ve all been through a lot.”

Bethan nodded, reassuring her parents with a soft touch. Then, they all made their way towards the car.

As the engine roared to life and the car started to pull away, Hugh felt a pang in his heart. Without thinking, he started to move towards it. “Bethy!” he called out, his voice tinged with despair.

“Damn it, Hugh!” Ryan snapped, and with a swift motion, he slapped Hugh across the face. The sound echoed in the air.

Hugh reeled from the blow, his body swaying dangerously. Jacob was quick to catch him, holding him up so he wouldn’t fall.

Ryan was fuming, his face red with anger. “All because of a

woman, you threw away your responsibilities at the company like it was nothing. Have you lost your mind?”

Fiona, always the peacemaker, put a hand on Hugh’s arm. “Hugh, this situation with Bethy is your doing. It’s clear it’s not meant to be. Just let go and stop making things worse.”

Harvey, who had been brooding silently, finally spoke up. His voice was cold and authoritative. This has gone too far. You’re supposed to be the Cavill family heir, but you’re acting like a nobody.

“Since you’re back, drop this nonsense. Get ready for your engagement with Alina at the end of the month.”

Hugh’s eyes hardened, and his voice was steady. “I’m not doing it. You can forget about it.”

Harvey pointed in the direction where Bethan had left. “You’re saying no to Ms. Potter. Does that mean you’re still completely obsessed with that woman?”

Pushing Jacob aside, Hugh walked up to Harvey, his gaze unwavering. “Even if Bethan never forgives me, I won’t get engaged to anyone else,” he said, every word a pledge.

Ryan threw his hands up in frustration. “Hugh, you’re at the top in America as the Cavill family heir. You could have any woman in the world.

“When you married Bethan, you didn’t seem all that into her. So what changed? What on earth does she have that has you acting 3/6

so crazy?”

Hugh let out a tired sigh. “Dad, it’s my problem. I can’t get her out of my head. I messed up big time, and I don’t deserve her. It’s all on me.”

Ryan’s anger reached a boiling point. He raised his hand again, ready to strike.

But at that moment, Hugh suddenly coughed up a mouthful of blood and collapsed to the ground with a thud.

“Hugh!”

Ryan and Fiona gasped in horror their faces draining of color.

Harvey was so shocked that his walking stick slipped from his hand and fell to the ground.

His legs gave way, and he would have hit the floor if it weren’t for Logan, who quickly caught him. “Sir Cavill!” Logan exclaimed, his voice filled with concern.

Ryan barked at the driver to get the car ready.

Then, he whirled around and pointed at Jacob, roaring, “Spill it! What the hell’s going on?”

Jacob knew he couldn’t keep it under wraps any longer. “Mr. Cavill’s been suffering from severe gastritis and angina since his divorce from Mrs. Cavill, Without Mrs. Cavill’s medicine, he’s been losing sleep for ages,” he said. 4/6

Summoning his courage, he added, “Sir Cavill, Mr. Ryan Cavill, if you two keep pushing Mr. Cavill to give up her, it’s like pushing him to give up his own life!”

Hugh was rushed to the hospital in a hurry.

Meanwhile, Bethan got home safely.

Mason and Gwen dropped her off at the door and then headed back.

In the living room, Bethan was sitting on the sofa, surrounded by her family, who were bombarding her with questions about whether she was hurt.

Bethan soothed her parents, saying, “Dad, Mom, he just wanted to force me to remarry him. He didn’t hurt me.”

“I thought that young man was quiet and steady when I first met him. Who’d have thought he’d be so unreliable?” Vincent heaved a sigh.

Arthur, who’d had a huge falling-out with Hugh, retorted sourly, “You didn’t see through him. Geniuses are a bit nuts in the head.”

Miranda chimed in, “Look at the other big families. The siblings stick together to stay on top. But Iugh took over the Cavill Group all by himself at such a young age. To outsmart the old foxes on the board and his business rivals and still hold the top position, he’s not normal. We’d better stay away from him in the
