Chapter 374 Clean Up
Across the street from the club, a luxury car became the stage for a terrifying scene. Marshall, seething with rage, pinned Bethan down on the back seat. “You made me a goddamn cripple. Now I’m gonna have my way with you. It’s only fair,” he growled, his hands roughly tearing at her clothes.
Bethan fought like a cornered wildcat, but Marshall’s strength was overwhelming.
Two stinging slaps landed on her face, leaving her dazed and blood trickling from the corner of her mouth.
Just as despair was setting in for Bethan, a deafening crash shattered the window glass.
A bloody hand, cut by the shards, reached in and unlocked the
door.
In an instant, Marshall was yanked out of the car like a rag doll.
“Bethy!” Hugh’s voice was a mix of horror and relief.
He quickly shed his coat and wrapped it around her trembling
body.

“You bet we will,” Hugh murmured, holding her tightly as if afraid she’d break into pieces.
Marshall, seeing Hugh, panicked and broke free from the men holding him. He sprinted across the street like a madman.
Right in the middle of the road, a black G-Wagon plowed into him with a thunderous crash. Marshall flew through the air, and a sickening thud followed as his body hit the ground. His prosthetic arm went flying off, landing a few feet away.
The G-Wagon rolled to a stop, and James stepped out, a half-lit cigarette dangling from his lips. His legs carried him with a nonchalant swagger.
“Mr. Keating!”
Bethan pushed Hugh aside and ran towards James.
In her haste, Hugh’s coat slipped off and landed in the middle
of the road
Hugh stood there, rooted to the spot, watching as Bethan disappeared into James’ arms. His eyes grew misty with a mix of pain and helplessness.
James flicked his cigarette away and looked at Hugh. “I’m taking her. You clean up this mess,” he ordered.

Hugh gritted his teeth, his fists balled up, but he let James drive off with Bethan.
On the other side of the street, Alina’s friend nudged her. “Hey, Mr. Cavill’s all alone now. You gonna go console him?”
Alina shook her head dismissively. “I was busy tipping him off because I wanted him to owe me a favor. I’m keeping this favor to get some benefits for my family, not to snag a man!”
Over an hour later, at the Olsen family’s place, Arthur rushed back upon hearing the news.
Seeing the red marks on Bethan’s face, he smacked himself in the forehead. “Damn it! It’s all my fault,” he berated himself.
Bethan had managed to pull herself together. “Mr. Locke, I’m okay. That creep just gave me a scare,” she reassured him.
Just then, Miranda knocked and entered. “Bethy, Mr. Byron’s here,” she announced.
Bethan adjusted her clothes. “Mom, show him in.”
As Miranda was leaving, she tugged at Arthur’s sleeve. When Arthur refused to budge, she practically dragged him out of the
room.

Calvin strode over to the bedside. He bent down, his eyes fixed on her bruised cheek.
Then he looked into her eyes and said flatly, “Marshall’s dead.”
The water glass in Bethan’s hand slipped from her grasp.
The angry words she’d spoken in the heat of the moment echoed in her mind.
“I wanna kill that son of a bitch!” and Hugh’s reply. “You bet we will.”
Her heart skipped a beat, and a sense of dread washed over
her.
Bethan looked at Calvin, her eyes wide with fear. “How did he die?” she managed to whisper.
Calvin crouched down beside the bed. “Not long after Marshall was wheeled into the ward, Mr. Cavill and Mr. Keating took turns to visit. They left together, and around half an hour later, Marshall was pronounced dead after his condition took a turn for the worse.”
At his words, Bethan averted her gaze, the worry and trepidation in her eyes well-hidden.

thought of Hugh in trouble gnawed at her.
Calvin’s voice was soft yet reassuring. “Even if your gut feeling’s right, I’ll step in and sort this out. No need to lose sleep over it.”
