Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 375

Chapter 375 Owes Me Two Lives

The Davis family was in an even bigger mess.

Stirring up trouble, Elsie spoke up, “Marshall’s a Davis. Hugh broke his arm before. Fine, the family didn’t go after him because we were scared of the Cavill family’s clout.

“But this time, he just got back to the States, and that James nearly ran him down. He was barely saved in the hospital, then Hugh and James ganged up and offed him. It’s clear they’re looking down on the Davis family!”

Before Elsie could finish ranting, Edith cut her off sharply. “Pipe down! You’ve got no say here.”

Marshall’s mother, eyes brimming with tears, wailed, “Hugh went to my son’s room in the dead of night. He clearly had some evil plan. I want him to pay for my son’s life!”

With the whole clan gathered in the living room, most folks were too scared to chime in.

Edith retorted, “I’ve seen the surveillance footage. If he hadn’t done something sleazy, tried to mess with Mr. Cavill’s ex-wife, and bolted into the middle of the road, this wouldn’t have happened.”

can you take their side? Even if it was on accident that My Keating hit Marshall, what’s Hugh’s excuse for sneaking into the ward at night?”

Edith explained, “Mr. Keating called just now. He and Mr. Cavill went to talk about compensation.”

Needless to say, no one in the Davis family bought James’ story.

Frank, who’d been keeping quiet, slowly rose from the sofa.

Scanning the room with a serious look, he declared, “That good-for-nothing brought this on himself. No one else is to blame. Sign the cremation papers tomorrow. No need to tell the relatives.”

Marshall’s mother crumpled to the floor, sobbing

uncontrollably, “My boy was fine, and now he’s gone. I can’t accept this!”

Three of Marshall’s brothers also balked, “James and Hugh picked on Marshall. That’s an insult to the whole Davis family. We can’t just let this go!”

Frank fixed his three sons with a warning gaze and demanded, “So what are you gonna do about it?

“Don’t forget, that woman’s got Calvin in her corner!

And let’s be rear, in terms or scheming, an of you together can’t hold a candle to Hugh. Trying to fight dirty? Have you forgotten where James comes from?

“And if you go to court, do you think you can win with Calvin around?”

After Frank laid it all out, the room fell silent.

Finally, Edith made the call. “Tell everyone Marshall had a hidden illness and died during the rescue. After signing the papers tomorrow, send him straight to the cemetery. From now on, this matter is closed.”

Edith and Frank were smart.

Not to mention James and Calvin, just Hugh alone was a force to be reckoned with.

If they kept pushing the issue, the whole Davis family would end up in hot water.

A life was lost, fading away without a single ripple in the bustling city of New York.

With a worried look on her face, Miranda said, “Your dad and I accidentally overheard part of your conversation with Mr. Byron last night.”

“Mom, the matter is settled. Don’t worry too much.” Bethan said.

Miranda looked at her daughter carefully and asked, “Bethy, if he really did all this for you, will you forgive him?”

Bethan shook her head without hesitation. She could move on with anyone, but she would never go back to him.

With a sigh, Miranda said, “Honey, I just think that since you were married, even if you don’t want to get back together, for the sake of Fiona, it’s okay to persuade him a bit.”

As the mother-daughter pair looked at each other, Bethan’s eyes welled up.

She said, “Mom, I’ve known him for over twenty years and was married to him for three years. Only I know how much I loved and relied on him. But all he gave me were lies, betrayal, schemes, coldness, and neglect.

“When I was at my lowest, I held a knife, ran through red lights, climbed to the top of buildings, and stood on overpasses. But did he ever look back at me with even a shred of pity?”

Miranda shed tears, feeling sorry for her daughter.

Bethan said firmly, “Mom, the old me died in his hands, along with my unborn child. He owes me two lives, and he can never pay them back!”

At the consulting-room door, Hugh’s registration slip fell to his feet.

His eyes were bloodshot, and the fingertips of his hanging hands trembled slightly.
