Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 386

Chapter 386 Not to Marry Hugh

“Hey, Bethy! How come you’re back by yourself? Where’s Hugh? And where’s the marriage license? Let me have a look.”

Her parents’ voices pulled Bethan back to reality.

Gazing at her parents, who looked several years younger, Bethan felt a warm prickle in her eyes.

At this stage, Miranda’s heart condition wasn’t so severe that she needed surgery. Both of her parents were still in relatively good health.

It wasn’t so bad like this.

She could take good care of them and spend more time with them, making up for the regret of neglecting them in her past life when Bethan was completely consumed by Hugh.

Bethan guided her parents to the living room sofa.

Standing in front of them, she gradually composed herself and said seriously, “Mom, Dad, I’ve decided not to marry Hugh.”

Miranda and Vincent stared at her in disbelief.

“Bethy, did you and Hugh have a fight?” Miranda asked,

Vincent added, “With Hugh’s personality, it’s hard to picture you two having a spat.”

Bethan lowered her head, trying to figure out how to explain.

However, Vincent frowned and scolded her, “Bethy, after our family went bankrupt, you’re no longer the privileged heiress. Be a bit more sensible.

“He’s a good lad. We’ve watched him grow up. His family is well-off, and he’s honest and reliable. He helped our family through tough times and really wants to marry you. We’re the lucky ones to have him in the family. Don’t be so impulsive.”

Miranda chimed in, “You’ve had a crush on Hugh since you were a kid. You used to say you’d marry no one else. Why the sudden change?”

Bethan looked at her parents, a jumble of emotions swirling inside her, and not knowing how to explain.

If she told them about how Hugh betrayed her in her past life, causing her to have a miscarriage and get divorced, they’d probably think she was nuts.

There was no way they’d believe her.

After some thought, she came up with an excuse. “Dad, Mom

I was just a silly

However, they advised Bethan to think it over and not rush into a decision.

Yet, Bethan’s mind was already elsewhere.

In a roundabout way, she said, “Mom, Dad, if you really have my best interests at heart, pay back the money we owe Hugh. Return his card and the house, too.”

Vincent nodded and said, “Well, originally, since you’re supposed to marry Hugh at the end of the month, your mom and I agreed to move in here. We just didn’t want Hugh to lose face and think our family was shabby. Since you’re saying we should move out now, then we will.”

Miranda went into the room and came back with a bank card. She handed it to Bethan and said, “This card was given by Hugh. Your dad and I haven’t touched a single cent in it. You return it to him.”

Bethan took the card and timidly asked her mom, “Mom, how about selling that emerald jewelry and using the cash to things with Hug

At this, Miranda and Vincent exchanged a look.

Bethan hastened to explain, “Don’t worry. I’ll bust my butt to earn enough to get the jewelry back later.

“You know how the Cavills, like Sir Cavill and Mr. Ryan Cavill, look down on our Olsen family since we went belly-up. They reckon I’m not good enough for Hugh. If we keep taking Hugh’s dough, I’ll be a doormat if I marry into their clan.

“I wanna settle all the debts before tying the knot. That way, I won’t owe a soul, and no one can look down their noses at me.”
