Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 399

Chapter 399 Paying Him a Visit

Bethan made her way home.

Without wasting a second, she delved into the task of sorting and packing up every single gift Hugh had given her over the years.

Alongside that, she meticulously penned a detailed list and then got to work with a calculator, the keys clicking away as she tallied up the costs.

Bethan was due to start her hospital internship the following Monday. With the next day free, she made up her mind to find Hugh and return the money and the house.

As she lay in bed, deep in thought, Bethan realized that since Hugh had agreed to go back to their childhood friendship, returning all the gifts would be a bit too blatant.

She wasn’t about to engage in the foolishness of a bitter argument to prove who was right.

Instead, she decided on a graceful exit, pretending all was well even though her heart was in a mess.

This wisdom, born from living two lifetimes, was her newfound

Tee following afternoon timing it perfectly with linekle and work, Bethan arrived at the Cavill Group.

In the prestigious president’s office of the Cavill Group, Jacob stood at attention, his stance respectful.

“Mr. Cavill, exactly as you foresaw, the families behind those on the list you provided have all bowed to the situation. They’ve voluntarily given up their shares in hopes of long-term cooperation with the Cavill Group. Every single person on that list has signed a guarantee, promising to keep their mouths shut about Ms. Olsen,” Jacob reported.

Just as he finished speaking, Hugh’s phone buzzed with a new notification.

Eyes lighting up at the sight of Bethan’s WhatsApp chat box, he sprang to his feet.

The previous night, Bethan had been so aloof that she didn’t even let him offer her a ride home.

But here she was, paying him a visit at work and seemingly inviting him out to dinner.

Down in the lobby, Hugh emerged from the elevator and dashed over to Bethan.

Bethan just shrugged. “Are you done for the day?” she asked matter-of-factly.

Hugh nodded, his eyes immediately catching the loose shoelace on Bethan’s shoe.

Without hesitation, he dropped to one knee and started tying

The employees passing by in the lobby couldn’t help but throw envious looks their way.

Some even furtively pulled out their phones to take pictures and share them in hushed group chats.

Bethan stood there, looking down at Hugh’s focused face.

Gradually, the scene blended with a memory from her past life, where Hugh had crouched before Megan, tenderly helping her try on a pair of shoes.

A wave of discomfort washed over her, and she quickly pulled her foot back.

Hugh looked up, concern etched on his face. “What’s up?” he asked.

Hugh got to his feet slowly, his gaze fixed on Bethan, a hint of caution in his eyes. His gentle smile faltered slightly.

“Got this for you. Give it a go,” Hugh said, sliding the plate towards her.

Bethan lowered her gaze and casually set down her utensils. replied, cursing the memory that made matcha truffle a forbidden fruit.

Hugh noticed the change in her expression. In response, his face darkened gradually.

In his past life, his homemade blueberry cake for Megan had poisoned her love for matcha truffles.

He still remembered Bethan’s tearful “Gross!” like it was yesterday.

A pang of pain shot through his chest. He quickly looked down, trying to hide the turmoil inside.

It can’t be. I’ve tested her.

There was no sign she’d been reborn.

Her aversion to matcha truffles must be a crazy coincidence.

Forcing calmness, Hugh moved the dessert to the side. “There’s a new bakery downtown. Next time, I’ll take you to try their new stuff,” he offered.

Before his words fully left his lips, Bethan held out a bank card.

Taking a deep breath, Bethan started seriously, “Mr. Cavill…”

“Hold it,” Hugh cut her off, his voice suddenly cold. “What did you just call me?”
