Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 398

Chapter 398 Simple Happiness

Early the next morning, the household was bustling with activity as Bethan and her family rose to start packing.

Hugh had arranged for the house to be cleaned in advance, so they only had to gather their personal effects.

Bethan quickly hired a moving company, and within no time, all their stuff was loaded up and transported to the new rental.

Before bidding farewell to the old place, she made sure to hire a cleaning crew to leave it spotless.

Back at the rental, it was another flurry of activity.

By the time evening rolled around, the Olsens were utterly spent.

Around seven o’clock, craving some comfort food after a long day, they made their way to a lively night-market diner. There, they ordered burgers, fries, and milkshakes, ready to dig in.

Meanwhile, down the street, a sleek black Bentley pulled up smoothly by the curb.

The window slid down, and Hugh caught sight of Bethan. She

A soft smile spread across his face as he watched her genuine happiness at this simple family meal.

It struck him then that true happiness could be so uncomplicated.

Hugh adjusted his suit and stepped out of the car.

“Hugh! Over here!” Barry called out, quickly getting up and offering his seat.

Vincent motioned for the waiter to bring an extra set of utensils.

Eyeing the small diner stool, Hugh neatly adjusted his pants and sat down beside Bethan.

Bethan looked up, and the burger in her hand plopped onto the plate. “What are you doing here?” she blurted out.

Hugh noticed the ketchup on her lips and instinctively reached for a napkin.

But Bethan leaned back, avoiding his touch.

Hugh retracted his hand nonchalantly and asked, “How’d you end up here?”

Barry.

What Hugh didn’t know was that they’d moved out of his house.

Bethan planned to calculate the expenses, pack up the gifts he’d given her, and break the news to him the next day when she repaid him.

Hugh gave her a puzzled look.

But then again, Bethan had always been full of surprises, so he didn’t dwell on it.

Vincent offered Hugh a drink, and Hugh nodded.

Bethan rolled her eyes. Hugh was known for his finicky taste, and this kind of casual diner was usually not his scene.

Seeing Hugh clink glasses with her dad but not touch his food, Bethan playfully held out a fry dipped in hot sauce. “Wanna give it a go?”

Despite Hugh’s quick handling of the situation, given his grandfather and father’s strict nature, he was bound to face some family discipline.

In a past life, he’d endured plenty of beatings for Megan’s sake.

Bethan tried to ignore Hugh’s tense posture and went back to savoring her food.

Hugh watched her silently from the side.

Miranda, aware of Hugh’s sensitive stomach, ordered a bowl of soup. “Hugh, your stomach’s not great. Have some soup to settle it,” she advised.

When the waiter brought the burger, Barry stood up to make space, pointing at Hugh. “Put the non-spicy one in front of him.”

Across the street, inside a sleek black limousine, Fiona and Ryan were observing the heartwarming scene of their son with the Olsen family.

Fiona turned to her husband. “Now do you understand why Hugh doesn’t want to come home for dinner with you?”

Ryan huffed and looked away, “A scion of a wealthy family eating at a diner. It’s just not right.”

“Our marriage was all about status and business for you. To you, Hugh isn’t your son; he’s a means to keep the Cavill family and the Cavill Group on top. You never cared about his feelings!” Fiona scoffed.

Ryan tilted his head defiantly. “The Cavill family’s wealth and influence are his. A man should focus on his career, not family.”

Fiona rolled up the window. “Ryan, if you keep treating our kids like this, I’m filing for divorce!”

Her son was in charge of the Cavill family, but Harvey and her husband were constantly meddling, even in his love life.

The simple, homely atmosphere of the Olsen family was what her son truly craved.
