Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 427

Chapter 427 Blackmail

Upon driving to the office building, as Hugh stepped out of the car, he was immediately swarmed by Rachel, Jasper, and Nola.

Rachel quickly stepped in front of Hugh, a look of desperation on her face. "Mr. Cavill, I'm Megan's mom. She's been yanked away by the cops without any clear reason. You've gotta pull some strings and get her out of this mess!"

Jasper, looking equally anxious, chimed in, "Mr. Cavill, right before the police took her, Megan told us to come find you. We're counting on you here."

With a pleading tone, Nola jumped in. "Mr. Cavill, Megan just got back to town. Some bastard is framing her for blackmail. She risked her life to save you, and she came back for you. You can't just stand by and let this happen to her!"

Hugh's eyes turned icy as he sized up the three of them.

His sharp, cold stare landed on Nola.

"That 'bastard' you're talking about? It's me," he said, his voice flat and menacing.

"Ah?"

The three of them yelped in shock and quickly took a few steps back, clearly caught off guard.

In the car, Mason slouched with his arms on the open window, watching the mess like it was a show.

Hugh took a threatening step forward, his face cold and hard. "Your whole family made up that car accident and had Megan pretend to be the hero. When you saw she couldn't marry into my family, you took 60 million dollars from my grandpa and tried to blame him for it."

"I already gave all the evidence to the cops. Every one of you Ridleys is in this deep. You'll all get a call from the police," Hugh said firmly.

He glanced back at Mason briefly, then turned on his heel and started to walk away.

The moment Hugh was out of earshot, Nola exploded.

She pointed at Rachel accusingly and yelled, "This is all your fault! You raised a useless daughter who won't listen to me. Now she's getting the whole family into trouble!"

Then she rounded on her husband. "Tell your mom to pack up that little bastard and get out of our house. If she doesn't, I'm out of this marriage!"

Still grumbling and cursing, Nola stormed off.

Rachel collapsed to the ground, crying loudly.

Jasper was stuck in the middle, looking helpless.

Sliding the two invitations in front of Gwen, he said, "If you don't want Grandpa to arrange your engagement, find someone you like and get engaged before he forces you to."

"Finding a guy isn't like buying a bag. It's not that easy!" Angry, Gwen grabbed the invitations and left.

Jacob saw her out and then returned. "Mr. Cavill, are you really okay with Ms. Cavill going there by herself?"

Hugh lowered his eyes. "There's always someone who can handle her. Someone will go with her."

Gwen just didn't get it and kept saying Mason was like a brother to her. Mason was afraid of ruining their relationship, so he never dared to show his feelings.

In his past life, Hugh just let things take their course between the two, and their relationship never moved forward. He never got to see them have a happy ending before he died.

After his passing, as Bethan informed him, Mason kept a watchful eye on his sister and parents round-the-clock, quietly doing a great deal for his sister.

In Gwen's eyes, Mason was the sole dependable person.

As his closest friend, Mason was also the perfect partner for his sister.

In this life, he had to give them a push and make them be together.
