Chapter 84 Come and See You
Lucky Draw
After a moment’s hesitation, she dried her hands and went to the living room to answer.
Hearing Megan’s voice on the other end, Bethan couldn’t help frowning.
After hanging up, Bethan made an excuse about taking out the trash and headed to the community gate.
Spotting Bethan, Megan stepped forward with a smile and greeted her, “Ms. Olsen! Hugh told me you’re back in the States. I just had to come and see you.”
As she spoke, she held out a box of pastries and a fruit
basket.
Bethan scoffed and didn’t take the offerings.
Hugh had vanished for a month without a word because of Megan.
And the moment she was back, Hugh couldn’t wait to tell Megan.

Concealing the emotions in her eyes, Bethan said flatly, “I’m not taking these gifts. Just cut to the chase.”
The two faced each other by the roadside. Megan set the items down.
As Megan eyed Bethan’s stunning face, a flicker of envy crossed her eyes. “You’re back for the festival to be with your family, right? When are you heading off?”
Their gazes locked. Bethan frowned impatiently. “Why I’m back and when I leave is none of your business. If you keep beating around the bush, I’m out of here.”
Seeing Bethan about to go, Megan stepped in her way. “Ms. Olsen, I know you’re not happy about Hugh and me getting back together. But these little games of yours will only make Hugh resent you more.”
Bethan pressed her lips together and stayed silent.
As expected, birds of a feather flocked together.
Both Hugh and Megan were so self-centered.
Megan continued, “You let me and my son move to11:49

your wedding house with Hugh. You even helped us redecorate it. You left the divorce papers and the bank card, and put your wedding ring on my finger. You’re not being noble. You’re just trying some reverse psychology to win Hugh back, aren’t you?”
Bethan fought back the swirling emotions. “Megan, what you should be doing is whispering in Hugh’s ear to get that divorce so you can take my place with your kid. Don’t waste your breath on me.”
If it were the old Bethan, she’d have either slapped Megan or given her a piece of her mind.
But after the Olsen family’s downfall and three loveless years of marriage with Hugh, her sharp edges had been dulled.
Gone was the spoiled heiress of the Olsen family.
Now, Bethan was a woman full of scars, looking vulnerable and raw.
Standing in front of Bethan, Megan felt a twinge of inferiority.

She goaded Bethan, saying, “Hugh’s a stand-up guy. The only reason he hasn’t divorced you is he respects his
elders and feels sorry for you.”
Megan sighed dramatically, “I get his situation, and I’m not gonna push him to divorce you. After all, Hugh loves me. His heart’s always been with me and our son. All you’ve got from him is just the title of his wife.”
“Damn you!” Barry suddenly emerged from out of nowhere and kicked Megan onto the road.
“Ah!”
“Barry!”
Amid the ear-splitting screech of brakes, Megan let out a piercing scream, and Bethan shouted for Barry to stop.
The next moment, she was sent flying about ten feet after being hit by a car. She landed on the ground, writhing in pain and crying for help.
The driver jumped out of the car to check the situation. Without hesitation, he fished out his phone, ready to call the cops.

Megan desperately grabbed the driver’s pant leg. “Sir, please don’t call the police. That kid who hit me is just a high-schooler, not an adult. If you call the police, he’ll get a record, and that’ll ruin his future.”
The driver praised Megan for her kindness and immediately dialed 911.
Bethan was at a loss for words.
Her brother had thrown the first punch. If Megan really pressed charges, Barry would end up with a police record.
She comforted Barry, telling him to go home and inform their parents. Then she hopped into the ambulance and accompanied Megan to the hospital, where she arranged a full-body check-up for her.
After Megan was wheeled into the ward, Barry, still worried, tagged along.
