Chapter 86 Let’s Have A Talk
Lucky Draw
Barry kicked the door in fury. “Hugh, Bethan and I never wanna see your face again!”
Bethan, supporting her trembling brother, didn’t look back.
Holding back her grief, she led Barry out of the ward.
Half an hour later, Bethan came out of the ER with Barry. Their parents had rushed to the hospital out of worry.
Bethan handed Barry over to their parents. “Dad, Mom, take Barry home first. I’ll go settle the bill and get the meds.”
Miranda said, “We’ll wait for you at the entrance.”
After getting the medicine, Bethan went to Megan’s ward.
Standing at the door, she watched Hugh attentively asking the doctor about Megan’s condition. She then waited patiently.

Bethan walked past Hugh without a glance.
Hugh was left speechless.

Bethan entered the ward and placed a stack of test reports in front of Megan. “My brother hurt you, and your man hurt my brother. We’re square.”
Hearing this from the doorway, Hugh felt a strange tightness in his chest.
Megan stole a glance at Hugh at the door and quickly said, “Mrs. Cavill, don’t say that. It’s not what you think between Hugh and me.”
Bethan gave Megan a meaningful look and then left the ward.
In the hospital corridor, Hugh grabbed Bethan’s wrist. “Bethan, let’s have a talk.”
Bethan shot Hugh a glance, yanked her hand out of his grasp, and made to leave.
Not about to let her go so easily, Hugh pulled her into a Zeduded corner of the corridor.

His eyes were glued to her face, scrutinizing every flicker
of emotion.
“Bethan, we’re husband and wife. What did you mean by those things you said to Megan just now?” he demanded.
Bethan halted, her voice laced with anger. “You’ve given all your love and trust to Megan. You two have a kid together. You hurt my brother right in front of me for that woman. What kind of marriage do we have left?”
Hugh reached for her hand. “Megan’s a kind-hearted soul. She hates drama. She went to see you to patch things up and get along peacefully.”
Bethan let out a scornful laugh. “The wife getting chummy with the mistress? Hugh, are you even hearing yourself?”
They stared each other down. Hugh fell silent for a
moment.
Then he said, “You’re my wife, and Megan’s history. I’ve seen the surveillance and talked to the witnesses. I didn’t
wrong Barry.”

Bethan swallowed her rage, her look at Hugh turning
icier.
Later, he did check the surveillance and question the
witnesses.
But when he first rushed into the ward, he only had eyes for Megan, ignoring her and her brother, just taking Megan’s side.
Seeing Bethan’s silence, Hugh tried to explain further, “I’m to blame for Barry’s hand. I got carried away, but Megan’s got nothing to do with it. Don’t take it out on her.”
Bethan’s eyes welled up. “With you standing up for her like that, do you think I’d dare?”
Their gazes locked again, and Hugh looked away.
He ducked his head and changed the subject. “How’s Barry’s hand? I’ll come with you to check on him.”
Hugh’s attitude cut Bethan deeper.

Before Hugh knew it, Bethan’s hand landed on his cheek.
The sharp sound echoed through the silence.
Hugh whipped his head around, staring at Bethan in disbelief, a spark of anger in his eyes.
Bethan’s eyes were red-rimmed as she spoke through gritted teeth, “Hugh, Barry’s looked up to you since he was a kid. You hurt him for a woman. You don’t deserve his respect.”
