Designer vs. Designer
HANNAH’S POV:
Before I could speak, Celeste snapped back, “At least our designer doesn’t need to bribe tabloids to get coverage!”
That set off a chorus of ooohs from the assistants in the room.
One of the rival girls shot forward, her stilettos clicking dangerously. “Say that again.”
Celeste raised her chin, unfazed. “You heard me.”
The two of them were nearly chest-to-chest before I stepped in.
“Enough.” My voice dropped, firm and cold. “This is not a playground. You are not children. You are professionals representing my brand, and I will not tolerate this circus.”
The room stilled for half a beat until one of the rival girls muttered under her breath, “Professionals don’t hide for years then suddenly reappear like a ghost.” My throat went tight.
“That’s enough now ladies! Return back to the dressing room. We will be out soon..” The other models instantly obeyed and scurried out the room.
I stared at the beautiful lady who had called them to the order and I knew that face all too well, Sienna Vale. She stood tall with her gold wavy hair and her bright blue eyes stared down anyone in front of her.
She smiled mischievously walking towards me, “I finally got to meet the one and only Hannah Jones. It’s such a pleasure, though not under this circumstance. You know how passionate the models can get.” She stretched her hand and I stared at it for a second before taking it and shaking hands with her.
“Oh I totally understand how passionate they can get but I’d like to make it clear that if anyone here…anyone tries to disrupt that, I will make sure you never walk in another show again. Not in Duncan. Not in Roselake. Not in any city where fashion breathes. Am I understood? You know, just to show how ‘passionate’ I am about my work.” I stared back at some of her models still at the door and smiled tightly at her and she returned the smile.
My heart was pounding so loud, I just hoped no one could hear it.
“Well, good luck tonight and don’t go ripping a poorly stitched dress.” Sienna laughed at her own remark and walked out slowly and I could only give a fake smile and say, “You too.’
She only harder and louder. I let out a shaky breath and thought to myself, What is this? High school?
I saw my reflection in the vanity mirror behind them. My jaw clenched, my posture straight. I caught Kara’s eyes; she was pale, uncertain, waiting for me to explode.
Instead, I smiled, “Thank you girls but let’s get back to work.”
I walked back into my dressing room, feeling Kara walking behind me and as soon as I got in, “You don’t need to say anything.”
“Alright ma’am, I’m just going to set this down for us and your make-up artist and stylist would be here whenever you’re ready.” She added and I nodded.

Before she closed the door, I called her name and said, “Thank you”
“You’re welcome.” She smiled and shut the door and I closed my eyes for about a minute, breathing in and out until I felt relaxed.
I picked up my phone and called Lucas, when I realized he hadn’t called me yet and I tapped my feet repeatedly as the call rang and he answered just when I was about to hang out and call again.
“Hey, everything okay?” He inquired as soon as the call connected.
“Yes, everything is fine. Where are you guys? Is everything okay there?” I answered as I stripped out of my clothes.
“We’re on our way but there’s traffic because of this event. I was going to call before because we couldn’t find Amelia’s shoe but we did.” I simply nodded as though he could see me.
“Hey Mummy! See you soon Mummy!” I smiled brightly hearing my angels’ voices.
“See you soon. I love you!” I was about to hang up after we blew virtual kisses to each other but Lucas had something to say.
I really wanted the kids here as this would stand as a reveal of the designer behind this brand and I knew a lot of reporters were trying to get coverage on who I was and it made me tense up a little bit. So I needed my kids next to me or at least in the audience cheering for me.
“What’s up?” I inquired as I tied a robe and entered the bathroom.
“There’s a problem.” Lucas simply said, making me heave a breath.
