The Taste of Rejection
3RD POV:
Hours Later:
“Sir, I will be leaving now but you have a guest.” Elijah’s assistant announced with a sigh but Elijah’s eyes were fixated on the beautiful view of the city from where he stood.
He often spaced out like that just taking in the beauty of the city, and picturing ways his life could be and could have been. Some other times he just stood thete hinking about the company and a new strategy or an investment and stocks to occupy his mind.
“Hey honey.” He was instantly brought back to reality by the sound of Janet’s voice making him instantly roll his eyes in a full circle before turning back.
He watched as she strolled in and his assistant smiled as though she was sympathising with him and she shut the door.
“I’m so happy to see you! I feel like I barely do since you’re almost never around.” She embraced him and pouted batting her eyelids at him-
“You can’t even hug me back.” She said with a frown when he pulled away and headed to his seat.
He let out a deep sigh, “I’ve had a long day and I’m exhausted, this is the last thing I need.”
Janet stared at him skeptically, and admired how handsome he looked with his white shirt sleeves slightly rolled up and a strand of his hair in his face. She rubbed her red coated lips together, staring at his soft tiny lips.
She thought for a moment and asked seductively, “Okay…I get it. How about I ease your stress?”
“Your girl misses you and wants some sugar.” She whispered as she bent a little in front of him with her hands on his lap and she pecked his lips.
“I’m not in the mood, Janet. Go home.” He ordered in a commanding tone and turned away from her direction and back to the pile of documents on his table.
She frowned again with anger pumping through her veins, as she hated the feeling of rejection whether it was intentional or not.
“Who is she, Elijah?” She questioned raising her voice.
What if it was really Hannah there tonight and she and Elijah were seeing each other behind my back? Janet thought but instantly dismissed it with the thought at the back of her mind reminding her that Hannah could never amount to anything and Elijah never even had only one feeling towards Hannah and it was hate for marrying him.
“What?” He asked, looking at her dumbfounded.
“You heard me. Who are you having sex with that’s making you ignore me? Is it your secretary or the receptionist downstairs because I noticed she gave me a stank look. So who in the world is she?” She yelled again aggravating Elijah to the core.

He sucked his teeth sharply, and rose up from his seat, “You know what? I know what this is about and I’m going to give it to you, so you can leave me alone.”
He took off his belt and she giggled in excitement when he gripped her wrist and pulled her towards him.
After about thirty minutes, they were done and Janet tiredly stated, “Let’s go home now. It’s late.”
“I will meet you at home. Close the door on your way out.” He dismissed like he did his staff and she stared for a second when she tried to peck his cheek and he dodged it.
“See you back at home then.” She angrily walked out and he let out a sigh.
He had a meeting the next day with the fashion company he was investing into and had to go through the reports to make sure it was a good one. He owned one of the biggest investment banks in the country, one he had started up from himself and not passed on to him by his father and he was so proud of the bank and seeing it thrive.
Janet walked out the office building adjusting herself and spoke to Elijah’s driver, “I will give you whatecer amount you desire if you can provide details of Elijah’s going’s and comings and whatever woman you see him with.”
He looked at with frowed eyebrows, and she didn’t wait for him to answer but asking again, “Can you do that?”

Hours Later.:
“This place is so cool. Amazing job in picking this out.” Hannah smiled at Maya who was also proud of her choice being that she had been here before on a date and it was perfect.
The restaurant was tucked away in a quiet corner of the city, a place known not for noise and paparazzi but for its warmth. The walls were dimly lit with amber lights, the ceiling was decorated with chandeliers. The scent of roasted herbs and freshly baked bread clung to the air, mingling with the soft hum of jazz that floated from a piano in the corner.
“And you look gorgeous in that dress.” Maya complimented looking at her friend and boss with admiration as she took off her coat. She was dressed in a simple green silk dress she had changed into after the show. Nothing extravagant, yet she carried herself with the same effortless grace she had on the runway.
Lucas, dramatically waved his hand to the waiter like a man announcing royalty as they took their seats on the
table reserved for them.
“Table for four adults, two tiny humans, and an assistant who deserves a medal for putting up with this woman,” Lucas had reminded them of how the reservation was made as he was next to Maya when she made the reservation.
The waiter chuckled politely, already aware of who theh were m. The restaurant had been discreetly briefed about the booking earlier, and they’d gone out of their way to ensure privacy.
