HANNAH’S POV:
+25 Bonus
Breakfast stretched on, filled with laughter, mess, and Lucas’s endless commentary. When it was finally over, Maya helped me herd the children upstairs to get dressed, while Lucas stayed behind to tidy up though I suspected he spent more time posing dramatically with dish towels than actually cleaning.
As I zipped up Amelia’s dress and combed through her hair, she looked up at me with wide eyes. “Mommy, are you nervous?”
The question startled me. “Why do you ask?”
“Because you keep biting your lip like you do when you’re scared.”

I turned, a little startled by the rawness in his tone. “You think so?”
“I know so.” He smiled faintly, though it didn’t reach his eyes. “You’ve come too far to be anything less and I’m going to be there by your side.”
For a fleeting second, I felt that something was unspoken, hanging in the air between us. But before I could ask, he clapped his hands, his energy snapping back into place.
“Now,” he said with mock authority, “go pick a power outfit. Something that screams: ‘Invest in me or regret it forever.’ I’ll approve it before we leave.”
I laughed, shaking my head, and moved toward my closet.

FEW HOURS LATER.
“You look perfect. I love it!” Lucas and Maya stared at me with amazement as soon as I came out my room in my black suit jacket and pants,
I complimented them right back as Lucas was dressed in a tailor grey suit, and Maya was in an orange tight-
