In the past, Hester would have lost her temper and demanded answers the moment she saw him. But not anymore.
At Silverstream Villa, she had witnessed firsthand just how much Julian doted on Melody and that illegitimate child. She knew all too well that Julian had changed. Even if they had another baby, they could never go back to how they used to be. A man whose heart and body had been tainted was no longer a man she wanted!
But even if she was going to divorce him, she absolutely refused to make things easy for Melody and that bastard child.
Her face an icy mask, Hester walked over and sat directly across from Julian. She didn't touch the bowl of soup in front of her. She simply stared at him with cold, calculating eyes.
"Julian, I built this company from the ground up, and I do not agree to you transferring equity to Melody," she said, her voice freezing the air between them. "I don't want to drag this out. You are the at-fault party in this marriage due to your infidelity. We are getting a divorce. Aside from the original assets of Weston Corp, I want every single asset we created together, whether before or during our marriage. I want all of it."
Hester delivered the ultimatum in one breath. Her stance was unwavering, and that familiar, long-lost sharpness returned to her beautiful eyes.
Watching her, Julian was momentarily dazed, as if he were looking at the old Hester who used to fight ruthlessly by his side in the cutthroat business world. But five years had changed far too much.
His expression remained impassive as he picked up his fork, speared a piece of steak, and placed it on Hester's empty plate. "The dinner table isn't the place to discuss this. I know you're angry, but Dr. Coleman said you need to eat your three meals on schedule. Don't let the progress you've made over the last few months go to waste."
Hester glanced at the steak on her plate and let out a dry, bitter laugh. "Julian, just looking at you makes me sick. I can't stomach a single bite."
Julian paused, his eyes lifting to meet hers. As their gazes locked, his eyes darkened, and a faint trace of impatience showed in the slight crease of his brow.
Hester held his stare, refusing to show even an ounce of weakness or compromise. From the moment she uncovered the truth, she promised herself she would never swallow her pride for him again.
The atmosphere grew suffocatingly tense; this dinner was doomed to be a disaster.
Julian set his silverware down and pinched the bridge of his nose. "You promoted those senior executives yourself years ago. They don't respect Melody. When you handed the company over to her, wasn't it because you hoped she could stand on her own two feet? I only gave her those shares so she would have more authority in the boardroom, to better help you manage the business."
