Out in the hallway, Seraphina was perched on a bench, anxiously shooting glances at the door. The moment it opened, her face lit up with relief, and she practically sprinted over.

Julian and Fiona stepped out.

"Julian!"

Julian froze.

Fiona glanced at Seraphina, then turned to Julian. "Since she's here, we should discuss Caden's condition together."

Julian gave a noncommittal hum.

Nervous but eager, Seraphina followed them into the adjacent family lounge.

Fiona broke down Caden's current psychological state.

"Though Caden is calm for now, recovering from this kind of trauma-induced stress response is going to take time."

Seraphina wrung her hands. "So... can I go in and see him now?"

"No." Fiona’s expression was stern. "Caden just recounted everything that happened last night. Frankly, your actions were the direct trigger for his episode."

Seraphina’s face drained of color. "I... it was an accident..."

"Are you still refusing to tell the truth?" Julian demanded.

Seraphina flinched, looking up at him. His face was a mask of cold, uncompromising fury.

Terrified, she stumbled back a step as tears spilled down her cheeks.

"I'm sorry..." She covered her face, bursting into ugly sobs.

"I just lost control of my emotions last night. Julian, I'm so sorry! I regret it so much. I don't even know why I snapped at him... but you have to believe me, I would never intentionally hurt my own son! He's my and Adrian's child... I love him more than anything. How could I ever hurt him?"
