Broken Vows and Buried Twins novel Chapter 276

Once Caden’s condition stabilized, his physical health quickly followed suit.

Hester, running on no sleep from the night before, was exhausted.

Caden refused to let go of her hand.

"It's time for your nap, Caden," Hester reminded him.

"Godmother, will you sleep with me?"

Stifling a yawn, Hester was too tired to argue and simply gave in.

She slipped into the hospital bed beside him.

The warm afternoon sun spilled through the window, blanketing the room in a cozy glow. Before long, both the woman and the child were fast asleep.

A short while later, the door clicked open.

Julian stepped in, pausing when he saw them curled up together.

His naturally intense features instantly softened. He walked over, gently pulling the blanket higher over Hester’s shoulders and tucking it in.

She was sleeping deeply, her face serene, a faint smile gracing her lips.

Clearly, she was happy to stay and look after the boy.

Julian’s gaze shifted to Caden, tracing the boy's features that so closely mirrored his own. His eyes darkened with complex emotion.

Eventually, he walked over to the sofa, sat down, and leaned his head back, closing his eyes.

He hadn't slept a wink since yesterday either. The exhaustion finally caught up with him, dragging him into a heavy sleep.

Meanwhile, Fiona consulted with Caden's primary physician regarding his follow-up care.

The doctor confirmed that as long as his fever didn't return, he was fit to be discharged and recover at home.

Fiona agreed that staying in a sterile hospital environment wouldn't do his mental health any favors.

Furthermore, it wasn't realistic to expect Hester, who was pregnant, to practically live in the ward.
