Broken Vows and Buried Twins novel Chapter 281

And so, Caden and Gigi happily became little roommates.

With Gigi's company, Caden's condition at the inn improved far beyond Fiona's expectations. For three days, aside from waking up with nightmares, the little boy was completely normal during the daylight hours.

Every time he jolted awake in the dark, Hester would wake up too. But heavily pregnant and moving slow, she usually found Fiona already soothing him by the time she reached the next room. Whenever Fiona saw her in the doorway, she would just wave her off with a reassuring smile, silently urging her to go back to sleep. There was no denying it—Dr. Fuller was an incredibly capable and dedicated psychologist.

By the fourth night, the nightmares finally stopped.

On the fifth day, Fiona officially told Hester that Caden was stable.

They had just finished breakfast, and the kids were out playing in the backyard. Hester and Fiona sat together at the patio table under the shade of an old oak tree, enjoying their morning drinks.

Jovie had gone into the city for supplies, and Chiara was out of the country for a film festival, not due back for another two days. Jett's vacation had ended, and he had flown out of Coralton with Rona yesterday. Starting today, the inn was back to its regular business hours. A new wave of guests was checking in, keeping the staff on their toes.

As for Julian, he hadn't shown his face once.

With Chiara's reality show temporarily paused after several production meetings, Hester found herself with plenty of free time.

Meanwhile, Seraphina's new show had been filming for three days, and it was anything but smooth. If the props weren't falling apart, the camera angles were all wrong.

At first, Bianca didn't think much of it. She assumed it was just growing pains—Seraphina was used to filming her own short videos, and transitioning to a professional crew naturally came with a learning curve.

But on the fourth day, the main investor, Mr. Hale, suddenly announced a surprise set visit.

By the time Bianca got the text, he was already minutes away. Production ground to a halt as everyone scrambled to roll out the red carpet.

Bianca practically dragged Seraphina into the makeup trailer for a frantic touch-up.

"Listen to me," Bianca stressed. "Mr. Hale is a wealthy foreign investor and a massive enthusiast of traditional heritage crafts. He funded this entire show just for you. When you meet him, you need to be charming and put together. Play it smart!"

"Got it," Seraphina murmured.

But internally, Bianca's warning only made her stomach twist into tighter knots. If this guy was a hardcore enthusiast, he definitely knew his stuff. What if he watched her work and immediately saw through her?
