Broken Vows and Buried Twins novel Chapter 50

In the YAH Jewelry.

Gael knocked and walked right into the office. Hester was sitting at her desk, flipping through a stack of documents.

Gael stopped in front of her. "I looked into it. The second set of leaks came from an overseas IP. But every time I try to dig deeper, the trail goes completely cold."

Hester paused and looked up. "Whoever it is, they're gunning directly for Weston Corp."

Driven by the massive scandal, Weston Corp's stock was in a freefall this morning. In the Northwood City business world, this was an absolute earthquake.

"The timing is just too perfect." Gael paused, then broke into a grin. "But hey, it works out for us. Saved us a fortune on buying trending traffic!"

Hester, however, looked deeply troubled.

Gael frowned, studying her friend's face. "What's wrong?"

"I'm just worried that with the news blowing up like this, Bella might..."

Before she could finish, her phone lit up on the desk.

It was Julian.

Hester's heart lurched. She answered immediately.

"Bella fainted. She's in the ER."

Hester's pupils shrank, and she shot up from her chair.

...

Twenty minutes later, at the hospital.

Hester was practically sprinting down the corridor toward the emergency room. Behind her, Gael was frantically trying to keep up, shouting, "Slow down!"

Julian was waiting outside the ER doors. Hearing the commotion, he turned around just as Hester rushed up to him.

Hester's expression turned grim. "What about your father? You might run the family now, but he used to hold all the power. He could easily have hidden offshore accounts we don't know about. Regardless, you need to dig into this and eliminate whoever is pulling the strings in the dark."

Julian looked down at her, a faint arch in his brow. "Hester, are you worrying about me?"

Hester froze. It was pure instinct. During their first year of marriage, right after Julian took over the company, they were constantly fighting off internal threats and corporate sabotage. She had stood by his side, helping him analyze every crisis.

They had fought in the trenches together. Some instincts were practically carved into her bones. Breaking them wasn't going to happen overnight.

But even so, she had to try. She had to fight tooth and nail to get used to a life without him!

Hester frowned, quickly averting her gaze, her tone turning icy. "I'm just reminding you that you stepped on a lot of people to become CEO. You should take a hard look at your enemies."

"I know." Julian kept his eyes on her. Though he didn't press the issue, the heavy, suffocating aura around him noticeably softened.

Just then, the light above the emergency room clicked off, and the heavy doors slowly swung open.
