Chapter 115 The Dark Iron Fortress
Two black combat knives hong at her hips. She seemed to dissolve into the shadows themselves.
PineappleBeer stayed low, peering through a crack in the jagged ice boulder.
Up ahead, spread across the open ground, stood a massive encampment.
No–calling it a camp didn’t do it justice.
It was a fortress welded together from black iron and bone.

The outer walls were patchworked from thick plates of dark metal, and at the center, a sharp black spire stabbed into the sky. At its peak burned an unnatural green flame, casting the snow around it in a sickly, corpse–light glow.
“This setup… these guys are seriously twisted.”
PineappleBeer muttered the words under her breath.
But what really tightened her stomach was an open section along the edge of the compound.
Dozens of heavy iron cages were lined up in rows.
Inside weren’t normal animals—they were those Snow Apes
A few members of Nightfall, marked by crimson pauldrons, wheeled carts filled with violet liquid between the cages. In their hands were large syringes, which they drove into the creatures without hesitation.
“ROOOAR–!!!”
The monsters roared in agony. Their ash–gray skin flushed red and swollen, bodies expanding as rage took over.
And right beside the cages stood a glowing circular stone platform.
A teleportation array.
“Simple One–Way Teleport Array
“Function: Consumes significant energy stones to transport a designated creature to the vicinity of marked coordinates.**
“So that’s their play.”
Now PineappleBeer got it.
This was how they “struck from a distance“.
Inject the beasts with rage serum, shove the enraged monsters into the teleport array, and drop them right on their

target’s doorstep.
A factory line for murder
“Ding. Ding.”
PineappleBeer pulled up her private messages and sent Riley the coordinates along with several photos.

“PineappleBeer: Coordinates (6585, 3428, 68). Place looks like something out of a nightmare–like some kind of twisted shrine. They’re using a teleport array to send out monsters. Maybe a few dozen guards. Looks like the whole guild’s holed up here.
“PineappleBeer: Move in now. We need to take down that array first, or they’ll keep sending those things out.”

Back at Riley’s place, she didn’t wait a second longer.
“Neeko, hold down the fort. Anyone comes close, you take them out.”
Riley gave Neeko’s head a firm pat.
This was a stealth run–bringing a full–grown bear along wasn’t exactly subtle. Plus, with all the supplies stored at home, she needed something solid guarding the place.
“You got it!”
Neeko nodded obediently, then shifted into a burly brown bear and planted herself by the entrance like a living barricade.
Riley drew her Teleport Card.
“Locking onto target coordinates.
“Engage.”
A surge of violet light enveloped her.
A moment later, the world twisted.
When her sight cleared, Riley found herself behind a rough ice boulder.
Bitter wind sliced against her face.
“You made it.”
A voice, barely a whisper, came from beside her.

Riley turned to find PineappleBeer crouched in the shadows nearby. If she hadn’t heard her, she might have

missed her entirely.
“That’s what you get after the class switch?”
Riley eyed PineappleBeer’s near–invisible presence with a low whistle. “Stealth specialty?”
“Shadow Affinity,” PineappleBeer explained quietly. “In darkness, I’m harder to notice. Assassin basics.”
