Chapter 187 Survival Instincts
He was a smart person.
He knew Snowy’s state at the time, and he knew Riley was just being kind.
But…
“Thank you”
ToxicReaper stayed silent for a long time before finally speaking.
His voice was raspy, but the total collapse from before was gone.
He pushed up his glasses and carefully tucked the handbag into his storage.
“It’s okay, Boss.”

ToxicReaper managed a weak smile. “We… we tried our best. Thank you for everything. If not for you, BigMountain, Nobody, and I would be rotting in that fog too. You saved us again.”
“At least we’re alive.”
Alive.
The word felt incredibly heavy now.
Everyone went quiet.
The atmosphere in the hollow became suffocating.
Everyone was thinking the same thing–when they first arrived, they were alone and eventually went numb under the pressure. Most people stopped thinking about their loved ones on Earth, but seeing this pair of old friends torn apart made them wonder: what about our families back home?
Everyone knew the truth, but no one said it out loud; such talk was a massive blow to the will to survive.
After a long silence, the girl huddled in the corner, Nobody, finally moved.
She silently removed the backpack that was far too large for her and set it on the ground.
As the bundle opened, it wasn’t filled with food or materials, but with countless jars, bandages, forceps, and even basic surgical sutures.
It turned out she had been carrying a massive medical kit the whole time.
“If you’re hurt… your health will keep dropping, and your max HP will decrease.”
Nobody didn’t look up; her voice was soft, but her hands were incredibly efficient.
She pulled out a roll of clean bandages and disinfectant, crawling over to BigMountain’s side.

Nobody pointed to the deep claw marks on BigMountain’s arm, which were still oozing black blood.
“Let me take care of this first.”
She unscrewed a bottle, took out a pair of tweezers, and began cleaning the wounds.
“Hold on, this might sting a bit.”
Nobody knelt by BigMountain, holding a system–generated suture needle.
“It’s fine, just stitch me up! Gwah-!”
BigMountain, a man over six feet tall, acted tough until the needle pierced his skin, making his muscles lock up and his face contort.
“Easy… take it easy!”
ToxicReaper wasn’t staying idle either.
He pulled several jars from his inventory, mixing something before handing a green paste to Nobody.
“Um… TartKing, can I trade you for some cake?” ToxicReaper asked.
“I almost forgot! Plenty of sweets to go around!”
TartKing smiled and handed over a large honey muffin, sharing some with BigMountain as well. “I’m no boss: just call me TartKing.”
ToxicReaper took a bite, and the sweetness helped his frayed nerves finally relax.
With the wounds treated and the comfort of food and warmth, the shadow of death over the group finally began to lift.
Humans are incredibly resilient creatures.
Everyone started chatting casually.
“Why were you guys screaming SpicyBurger and Crazy Thursday’earlier?” Riley asked.
“Ah, we said we needed to make noise so you could find us, but we were running for our lives and didn’t explain well. Those two guys just started screaming ‘Crazy Thursday‘ out of nowhere,” BigMountain explained.
“Haha, it’s fine.”
The conversation flowed from their narrow escape to their experiences in the instance and their survival ups.
Riley checked the system clock; it was nearly 11:00 PM. “We should take turns on watch. This place is safe,
