Their massive frames were wedged tight by over a dozen thick logs; sharp spikes pierced their flesh as green paralysis venom seeped into their blood.
But the physical damage wasn’t the source of their greatest pain.
It was the light.
Under the radiance of the mountain of crystals, the black energy that served as their armor began to sizzle and evaporate.
Riley blocked the exit to ensure the monsters couldn’t escape, then joined Pineapple Beer in hacking away.
Squelch!
Blood sprayed everywhere!
Massive damage numbers floated up; the wolves whimpered as their struggling limbs finally went limp.
Seeing Riley and PineappleBeer actually dealing damage to the wolves, BigMountain, who had been standing by with his greatsword, stared with eyes as wide as saucers.
He had fought these shadow–buffed monsters before.
But seeing these once–terrifying beasts being beaten like stray dogs while pinned in a trap made him feel like his world was being rebuilt.
“Don’t just stand there! Help us with the DPS!”
Pineapple Beer’s voice came from the shadows; she had already circled to the side of the trap and was driving her daggers into a wolf’s flank.
“Oh, right!”
BigMountain roared, his greatsword glowing with a yellow light as he landed a wide sweep on a wolf’s
neck.
TartKing and the others pulled out their weapons and started dumping damage as well.
Thud!
With one last heavy impact, the elite monsters that terrified countless players were officially dead.
The massive carcasses dissolved into light, and a pile of loot orbs burst onto the ground.
“Basic Weapon Upgrade Card x2!”
“Shadow Wolf Claws (Exchange Token) x4!”
“Dark Wolf Fur (Epic hat crafting material) x5!”

Riley wiped the blood from her axes, a satisfied smirk on her face. “As long as we get them into the light, they’re just regular mobs with extra HP. See? The plan works.”
“It works great,” PineappleBeer smiled.
BigMountain looked at the pile of glowing green crystals, and an idea popped into his head.
He reached out, wanting to pick up a crystal to check its stats. If he could take it back to the wastes, they’d be invincible in dark environments or similar instances.
However, the moment his hand touched a crystal.
“SCREECH!!!”
A sharp shriek erupted.
The old monkey who had been watching the show suddenly bristled. It blurred forward like golden lightning and slapped BigMountain’s hand away.
“Screech! Screech!”
Immediately, a dozen strong male apes surrounded him, baring their teeth and clutching stones, staring at BigMountain as if he had touched their most sacred treasure.
“Don’t touch those stones.”
Riley quickly stopped BigMountain’s suicide mission. “Those crystals are special scene props; they’re “Totems‘ for the tribe. We tried it; you can’t put them in your bag. Trying to steal them will tank your reputation.”
“Ah? I see… sorry, my bad.”
BigMountain sheepishly pulled his hand back, offering a cookie to the old monkey as an apology.
The old monkey sniffed the cookie and calmed down, but it still kicked the crystal deeper into the hollow, fearing the big human would try again.
After the group rested, PineappleBeer dove back into the mist.
Minutes later, a Mirage Butterfly was lured into the trap.

Snap!
The trap closed, and the spider was pinned.
A few brave monkeys picked up stones or took the bows and spears Riley had given them, tentatively approaching the trap.
