Chapter 284 The Lava Cavert
Chapter 284 The Lava Cavern
That was the double-jump passive effect of the orange-tier boots, the Polar Walker Boots.
Mid-air, Riley reached out and her dual axes flew back into her grip instantly.
She bent both arms backward to build momentum, her body curving like a crescent moon.
Boom!

Riley slammed both axes hard into the Corrupted Goat Overseer’s shoulder. The blade cut straight through its flesh. The brutal impact sent the monster flying backward. It crashed directly into a stone pillar, shattering it into rubble and kicking up a thick cloud of dust.
Still, the beast was tankier than Riley had expected. It stumbled unsteadily, yet it dragged itself back out of the smoke, still alive.
“This guy’s tough,” Riley muttered to herself. She was about to charge in again when another figure moved faster.
“Burger, let me have a shot!”
TartKing, who had been hanging back, suddenly pulled a two-handed greatsword out of her inventory. It was only blue-grade with mediocre stats.
“Hah!”
TartKing burst with surprising strength. She spun the heavy sword in a full circle, twisting her waist to build momentum, then smashed the blade down onto the dazed goat overseer climbing out of the rubble.
Thud!!
A series of heavy crashing sounds echoed through the cavern.
The roaring beast never even got a chance to lift its hammer. The greatsword slammed brutally into its skull.
The overwhelming force caved its goat-like head inward.
sartKing kept attacking without pause. Her movements were smooth and polished, clearly practiced in secret.

n the end, the massive monster was sent flying. It slammed into the rocky wall and stayed pinned there.

Meanwhile, PineappleBeer fought in an entirely different style.
She continuously flickered in and out of invisibility, kiting the second monster relentlessly. Every opening she found, she struck with a deadly backstab.
After a long, drawn-out fight, the second goat overseer let out a final roar and collapsed lifelessly onto the ground.
“Nice work, Tart. You’ve definitely been training behind our backs.” Riley praised her. Tartking stood there holding a sword almost bigger than herself.
“Not really. I just didn’t have all the materials for my orange staff yet, so I messed around with greatswords to kill time.” TartKing

scratched her head and smiled.
PineappleBeer teased her with a grin.

“What’s that saying? Magic is my talent, melee is my hobby. A bad mage is one who can’t fight up close.”
PineappleBeer collected the corrupted goat horns dropped by the two beasts, then the trio continued deeper into the rift.
Along the way, they encountered several more groups of monsters. They were all regular underground creatures corrupted by dark energy. Some were even corrupted snow apes, the same beasts Nightfall had released into the wild long ago.
Other than slightly higher levels, nothing had changed.
Every member of their team now wore two orange-tier pieces and mostly purple-tier gear. These level-twenty monsters posed no real threat at all. They were nothing more than easy EXP and material drops.
After mining a few more clusters of crystals, the terrain abruptly shifted.
The narrow jagged rift finally came to an end. In its place was a massive natural arch-shaped cavern entrance.
Waves of scorching heat mixed with a thick sulfur stench washed over them from inside the cave.
“It’s boiling.” Riley frowned.
“Is this… the end of the path?” Pineapple Beer leaned over the edge and peeked inside. Her eyes widened in pure shock.
“What the hell is this place?!”
