After saying this, he slid the chest toward PineappleBeer and gave a sly, exaggerated wink–his small, beady eyes glinting with mischief.
“However…”
He glanced around at the other players, who were staring them down with open hostility, and deliberately drew out the pause. “While the transaction is in progress, my rules are absolute. No one lays a finger on anyone here.
“But…
“Once the sale is over… well, whatever happens next is your own business, isn’t it? After that, I really don’t care who lives or who dies.”
He was basically telling everyone, “I won’t let you fight right now, but the moment I’m gone, you’re on your own.”
With that, the goblin merchant tipped his hat politely toward PineappleBeer and Riley, wearing an expression that said he was settling in to watch some quality entertainment.
“Hope you all… have fun.”
He turned and stepped back through the shimmering neon–lit wooden door.
“Snap.”
The door vanished into thin air as if it had never existed, taking with it the faint, cheerful jingle of bells.
“Man, what’s up with that NPC? That’s basically encouraging a free–for–all,” Riley muttered under her breath.
TartKing was running dangerously low on supplies. This was the worst possible time to get a fight.
The stone hall fell completely silent.
But the quiet didn’t last.
With the merchant gone, the invisible pressure that had been holding everyone back lifted almost instantly.

Greed began to creep through the room like weeds.

Nightfall members made the first move. They fanned out in a loose semicircle, slowly closing in on Riley and the other two.
The solo survivors still hanging around saw what was happening. They didn’t dare jump in, but they weren’t leaving either–instead, they edged toward the far walls, watching with that hopeful, scavenger–like look of someone waiting to pick up the pieces.
“Tsk, tsk. tsk.”
The buzz–cut guy spun his twin daggers casually, his gaze lingering on Pineapple Beer.
“Just came to buy a few things. Never thought I’d stumble across such a prime target.”
He could see the situation clearly.
Pineapple Beer had just stocked up on high–tier items and even scored a free silver chest, but her condition was terrible.
Her black cloak was shredded and stained, half–soaked with dried blood. Sure, most of it was probably from monsters, but her pale face and the slight tremor in her fingers told the real story–she was running on empty.
“Hand over your gear, and I might make it quick for you,” the buzz–cut guy sneered.
Before PineappleBeer could respond, a small figure suddenly stepped in front of her.
TartKing was clearly scared–her hands were shaking–but she didn’t hesitate. She rummaged through her pack, pulled out her last two strawberry cakes, and shoved them into PineappleBeer’s hands.
“Eat! These’ll restore some health!”
PineappleBeer glanced down at the slightly smashed cakes in her palms, then at the small, trembling back standing protectively in front of her.
“Thanks,” she said quietly. She didn’t push TartKing aside, just took a steadying breath and bit into one of the cakes.
Right then, another figure stepped forward.
Riley drew her Storm Splitter Dual Axes from her belt, giving them a testing heft in her hands. She planted herself squarely between the two groups, her expression cold and unnervingly

calm.
“Nightfall, right?”
Riley’s tone was flat. “That bald guy. He was part of your crew, wasn’t he?”
The buzz–cut guy paused, a flicker of uncertainty in his eyes.
Where was she going with this?
“So what if he was?”
Yeah, the bald guy was their vice guild leader. He’d been leading one of their main teams into this dungeon. But the buzz–cut guy had just checked his messages–the reply said the vice leader had been “wiped out“.
Riley’s lips curved into a thin, icy smile. Something about that smile sent an involuntary chill down the buzz–cut guy’s spine.
“Take one more step, and I’ll send you to join him.”
The room erupted into murmurs.
“Wait, she took out their vice leader?”
“No way. That bald dude from Nightfall had a full squad with him, and his gear was no joke. Her?”
